Homeless people

I see the same people daily standing in front of mini mall areas with the signs that say homeless please help me. I always wonder if they can do that every day, why isn't that they can't put the same efforts into getting a job and dealing with their poverty head on and take personal responsibility for it. Does't it seem that if they can hang out daily in the same place pan handleing, couldn't they be more productive?

I disagree with you on this one. A homeless man changed my life a few years back. I was leaving a club early and i ran into him. He didnt ask for any money he just wanted someone to talk to. I ended up talking to this man for over an hour and learned so much about the man. He had dreams he had ambitions, but there were things in life that couldnt let that happen that led him to the streets, he was trying to sell flowers because he wanted to open up his own flower shop, but he has a very sick mother in the hospital he wants to make money for. And as for going out and trying to get a job he had tried, but being a poor black man with no transportation no one was willing to hire him. So he had no choice for being homeless. There are too many ppl out there that treat the homeless like crap and i hate seeing that. I have much respect for this man and for many homeless people. And i know there are probably some that could get a job and choose not to.. but not all.

I agree that there are some that have situations beyond their control, however the hustlers have made it extremely hard to figure out who really is in trouble and the ones that are just lazy and just want a hand out. I have no problem helping someone that is truely in a jam and can't get any relief, but what about the others. Where do we draw the line?

The thing with that is i dont think we really can draw the line.. and that is life... it goes for alot of things in life to know what is real and what is not real..

Is true, there is a lot homeless people out there, some of them, if we try to dig out on their life and past, we may find they are prepared people, who by one circumstance or another ended in the streets, there is a lot of people who can help, however some of them do not want any help. And some people think that by giving them some money they are helping, when in reality they are only helping increase the number of panhandlers on the streets. want to help? give to red cross, local charities that work with homeless, AA, etc.

My concern with giving it to charities as opposed to directly to someone in need is all the victims of Katrina and 911 that have yet to be taken care of from funds donated for just that purpose, of course that's a whole other discussion
