My 19 month old daughter has started to bite. So far it is only my 8 year old son that she has bitten, but she has bitten him once on the hand a twice on the face in the last 24 hours. She does it when she is mad at him for stopping her from doing something that will get her in trouble or hurt. I don't know where she picked up biting, but how do I get her to stop? Any advice?

As a mother of 4 children, I have some experience with the biting problem. My daughter went through a terrible biting phase. With her, putting vinegar in her mouth worked when she bit. The thing is that vinegar is good for your bones too and completely safe. However, the bitter taste is no fun. She learned to quit biting real quick.

Vinegar huh? How did you put it in her mouth? With a spoon or what?

I put it in a dropper. Then, I just squirted it onto her tongue. I don't think it would work well on a spoon. More than likely, you would just end up with a big mess.

Hi Lilybug, My son philly did this, I took him aside and explained to him that 'Biting hurt people" he actually understood this, try to express wht biting is not accepted before you try any other methods, you may find it does actually work. :)

hi lilybug you take your daughter away from your son and give her a quick hard shake. dont ever do that again . we do not bite people. Also be very cautious about caring for the bites as human bites can get infected easily so use good sterile technique. also keep son away from little daughter for a bit, and if she starts even just a bit again. give her a shake and scold hard,. no we do not bite people . then give her some time out. she has to learn she c annot do that.
