I have had a look around the net for this but don't seem to be able to find a solution, which rather surprises me.
I want to be able to have a live chat box on a website that will start a messaging dialogue to a IM account, MSN,yahoo,AIM whatever.
Ideally a free solution, so that visitors from the site can ask questions to me. Also if there is a way to get these forwarded as SMS this would be also be very useful.
Any ideas, thanks?

Well, I did some googling and found several application that may be helpful to you.
Plugoo is another widget that seems to be what you are looking for. It promises to let web visitors chat with you while you are online in you IM. http://www.plugoo.com/
If not,try http://www.meebo.com/communityim/
You could also try this http://gizmo5.com/pc/universal-IM/
I do hope these applications can help you.

Just to add on to what the other users had suggested, i think chatango is another great live chat box.
It has many features such as number of users online, ip of users, ban users,more...
Moreover, you can choose it to be either private or public, depending on yr choice.
here's the website to it. IT'S TOTALLY FREE!! All u need is an account.

Hope it helps u =)
Cheers,

How about xat.com? I've been using this for my site for the past few weeks now and I'm still happy with it. It has a lot of custom display pictures and a private messaging feature. You can even upload your own picture but you just need to register to their site. The registration is free by the way.
Is plugoo good?
