I was wondering if we should get him a friend,ie another dog or cat to help keep him company while we are gone. All he does when we leave is lay on the couch looking out the window for us to return. Any ideas? God bless Leofa

We make sure our dogs have lots of toys to play with while we are gone. That usually keeps them busy. Right now my husband isn't working, so our dogs don't have to be left home alone very often. I'm sure they are in heaven!

Leave the tv on.Just like ppl feel less lonely with sounds or visual stimulation maybe he will too.And yes get another dog that he will like. That will help alot.bless his little heart. Not much else you can do but those things unless you have family or a friend where you could drop him off.we have 5 dogs and various other animals so this is not a problem! but we did have a lone yorkie who we left the tv on for at first and then we got her some company. She was a totally changed dog after that and for the better too.Not so hyper and attention seeking to the point of madness and she stopped running off when the gate was opened too. good luck

My mom leaves the radio on for her dog. Sometimes the TV. No one can know for certain if it helps, but she thinks it helps by having normal house noises around. I hope you try it and see what you think...

My Mom always left the radio or tv on for our dog and it seemed to work for her. A playmate might help. Good Luck!
