We know for a fact that chewing the food properly is necessary for a good digestion and digestion begins at the mouth...
Eating hard to chew foods like meat must be a great concern because I've read that we must chew at list 1 minute before swallowing...
So how long do you chew your food? are you concern or you just don't know?

Hmmm... I really don't know. I usually eat pretty slowly so I'm assuming that I chew my food well. However, there are times when I'm really hungry and try to get the food down as fast as possible (very unlady-like I would say! ). Anyway, during the times I do eat slow, I make it a point to chew my food properly.

Hi alecz! I really haven't timed my chewing of food. But when I eat I always see to it that I munch the food properly because I don't want to get choke. LOL! I just bite the meat, for instance, then chew it properly. It's really important to chew the food we eat properly so as to aid with the digestion process. This will perhaps avoid constipation. Just my belief. LOL!

Ive never really thought about it when im eating I just chew and then when it feels right I swallow. Also like you have said it takes more to chew some foods. I have heard of chew for so many seconds and have heard to chew every bite 30 times but I have never timed or counted LOL. Good topic happy posting :)

I have never really taken much notice of how long I chew my food although I am sure it would depend on what type of food we are eating. For instance, a slice of bread wouldn't have to be chewed for as long as a piece of steak. I would say that I chew my food until it is soft enough to swallow comfortably.

my grand father was very healthy and he used to chew his food 24 times before swallowing. Well I donot do so but still I eat slow and try to chew my food as much as possible. If we chew our food properly some part of the food is digested in the mouth itself with the help of saliva. When this chewed food reaches the stomach, it becomeseasy for the stomach to digest the food completely. So too much acid is not produced to digest the food, we do not gain much weight due to undigested food and no problem of heart burn too. So its really very important to chew food properly before swallowing it. If we practise it regularly, we will develop this good habit.

I've heard that you should chew your food slow, I can't remember how long, I tried it but by the time I got done the food was all chewed up..lol. I can't do that, sit there and count how many times I've chewed, it takes too long but I guess that's the idea isn't it. I don't know, I don't ever think about it.
