Both. In school, they give us tons of reading materials. But since I love reading a lot, I enjoy going through those readings. I also buy books at our local bookstore. I enjoy reading a lot. Knowledge is power, of course.:)

Well, I'm 40 years old so I'm no longer in school, but the whole reason I read is for educational reasons. I will occasionally read a fictional book just to get a break from the serious reading. My enjoyment of reading comes from what I learn while reading. Almost my entire personal library is made up of books of an educational nature. In it are books about World War II, about military subjects in general, books about the American presidents, and the Constitution of the United States, and books about science, technology, computers, and electronics, and books about current social issues as well, and about other subjects I haven't mentioned. I believe the greatest benefit of books is what we can learn from reading them.

I like to read mostly for fun especially in summer. But I have to read educational literature because of my profession to keep up to date with what is going on. Otherwise I will end up outdated.
