Did you stay up and watch the coverage on Hurricane Ike? Was you in the watch area. I stayed up and watched as I am from Louisiana and have gone through several,Katrina being the last I knew what this town was going through. I guess it was just my way of lending some support to the people in my own way. And my husband is in Louisiana at the present time and where he is at they received a lot of water so was interested in what was happening there. They have started to show the entire storm and I was just wondering how many stay up and watch, or do you just go to bed and wait till morning to see what damages was done.

Well it hit right down town Houston Texas (the eye) and that is where i live so yes we have a mess up here.We had no lights for 10 days & it was hard..we could not get gas for our cars or generators..We stood in line for 4 hours on foot just to fill a can with gas..I am at my daughters and my house still does not have lights..Many hundreds of people still do not have lights...Limbs trees & debris are everyplace,we had so many homes destroyed..it was horrible..My neices house was totally destroyed..My other neice lost her entire roof..Limbs trees &debis are lined the streets and no pickup..Galveston was destroyed which is only 50 miles from us,and that storm was 400 mile spread,,We had no Tv to watch plus no phone service & even our cell phones would not work..Many lives were lost..We are still trying to recover..We were hit very hard...

I too am in Houston, Deer Park actually. We were actually some of the lucky ones, our electricity was only out for 3 days. My mother-in-law did not have power for 2 weeks, yes 14 days, and that's not the worst of it. Thousands are still without power or water and FEMA has been gone for weeks. The devastation here is terrible, billions of $$ of damage, hundreds of lives lost, and not much help at all. As for watching the storm, I am glad to see that people in other areas were concerned for us, we watched until about 10:30 pm Friday night, that's when our electricity went out. My heart goes out to all those hurt by this and any other storm. I know that Ike caused a lot of problems very far north of Houston.

I catch the news as it airs on local tv but I am not in the hurricane zone so it is not crucial that I catch every last word on the hurricane. I feel bad for those that are in harms way.

I am no longer in the hurricane zone either but have quite a bit of relatives still in Louisiana, and I guess when you have gone through what these people in Texas is going through you watch, my Tv was just on the station they was showing it on, just for noise more than watching while I done things on the internet. My husband is in La so I was interested in what was happening there too. People not in the hurricane zone get tornados, which last only a few minutes. These people have to endure this for hours before it passes. It is a shame that any of us has to endure things like tornados and hurricanes but just part of life I guess.

I have been watching Ike also, I didn't stay up and watch it I work nights I got up around 8:30 pm getting ready for work and I watched it until I left home around 10:00 pm. There is a TV in the break area I watched it there. It has done a lot of damage. Millions of people are without power and will be for the next 2 week or more. I am home now and I am watching now.
