Serious about PTC

Okay friends, here it goes. I've joined MyLot exactly a week ago and I've been hearing A LOT about PTCs. Can someone please tell the REAL DEAL? Is it worth jumping on the PTC band wagon? None of these PTC sites ask for money upfront, right? Only if you want to upgrade or rent or whatever. So, what is the worst that can happen? They can't really take your money and run unless you give it to them. What are the best PTC sites and what is the best way to get referrals? There are so many PTC sites out there, do you just do all of them or select only a few? I really want to get started, but don't know where to start and YES, I am still very skeptical. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
