I think there should be a minimum weight for models because most models you see on the runway are stick thin and it is sending a message to younger girls making them think that is the way to look, which is not right. so i think they should put a minimum weight on modeling.

I agree with you completley !! The wrong message is being sent to the younger generation that you have to be skinny to be pretty and this is not the case . I know of a girl who is beautiful but she feels she is ugly because she is too big and she is forever trying to lose weight and be the size of her cousin who is much smaller . The truth is her cousin could do with a few extra pounds and I know this as I am her mother . She eats fine but does not put on any weight as she is like myself but she really could stand to be bigger then she is . Her cousin is over 6 feet tall and feels she should weigh 90 pounds to be beautiful because she sees her cousin as tiny and only weighing 80/90 pounds and because everytime you open a magazine or watch a commercial on t.v you are being sent the message that if you weigh more then a certain amount that you are to big and should diet . This is wrong !!

There should be a minimum it is not fair that pretty girls think they are not pretty cause they think they are heavy when they are not . I think it would be good if they did this . We are all pretty inside and taht is what matters more then how we look on the outside .

Yes, I do think that their should be a minimum weight for models. I myself do not like seeing all of those women that look like skin and bones, it is not healthy at all. I like seeing a full figured woman on the runway better. But those models think they have to starve themselves in order to be a model.

I agree with you that models are far too skinny as a general rule. But I hesitate to state that there should be a minimum weight, unless that minimum is ridiculously low. Because there is such variety in body shapes and density, making weight a determining factor is dangerous. Some people have denser bones allowing them to be super skinny and still meet the weight requirement, which would defeat the purpose while kicking out someone who is healthier. Perhaps body mass would be a better determinant. If the models had to fit into a healthy body mass group, that would solve the problem without creating an inequality. In the end, though it's up to us as individuals to impress upon our girls that there is a difference between what the media finds attractive and what really is attractive.
