My referral making money experiment

I have started an experiment to actually see if I can make any money from those referral websites you see on the web. I saw one http://www.ez5x9.com/?r=TerryG that states if you pay $3.00 and build a downline then you can make money. Well I wrote a hubpage on my experiment as well it at http://www.hubpages.com/hub/MakeMoney Experiment. So far I have four referrals and have $2.70 owing to me so I believe there might actually be something in this type of website.
