Do You Think Gambling Is Wrong?

The only good thing I see coming from gambling is when someone actually wins. Whether it's poker, lottery, slot machines, football pools and others of course. Who wouldn't want to win some mad cash? We all know that no form of gambling is guaranteed, unless you're the only one that's playing. Since it's clear that the average person usually loses more than he/she wins, then wouldn't the bad out weigh the good? Do gambling destroy a lot of homes and families? Can it kick you out in the streets? Maybe, if you are gambling with your rent money. So I guess my question is "Is gambling a sin?" Is it putting money before God?

I am not in favour of gambling. I rarely take a lottery ticket let alone gambling. But it depends. Is it a small amount just for fun? Or does it entail the whole salary? While in the first case, little or no harm is done. In the second case there are great consequences. The gambling victim and his family are going to suffer. As any other addiction it can only become worse if this person does not receive adequate help. If one puts gambling first prior to God and his family yes than it becomes a sin.

There's win, there's lose. Gamble with your money, it may ruin your life. So the moral is not to gamble at all even though if it's fun. (Unless you are a billionaire, - you would'nt be doing here on mylot anyway)

Hi miraclefreebies, The problem with gambling is that a lot more people lose than win. We should not be encouraging people to gamble. Blessings.

nothing is wrong with gambling actually. it becomes bad when: 1. when you get hooked 2. when you put it on top of everything else espacially God and your family 3. when it caomes to the point that you have pawned your house and lot, cars, jewelries, priced possesions, etc. too much of anything is bad.once in a while is fine but personally, i dont recommend gambling in any form

Hi there miraclefreebies.;-0 My mom is a casino player for almost 25 years and I can say that it's really not wrong as long you have limits on yourself on gambling.:-0 We already know that this is a game of chance and it's 50 50 if we win or not and it is really up to you if you enter that kind of thing or not but just make sure that you are ready to accept any consequences that will happen.:-0 Well I really cannot say that it is a sin because there are times that my mom is having a problem to something and then she did not expect that she will win and yeah she just solve the problem.I mean there are really lots of reasons about it well yeah i can say it is a sin sometimes if you lose.hehehe Well gambling is just like a skill,You need to observe everything because ya know like slot machine, its a computer and it's program to do like this or to give like this so you need to be wise..Lets say, that machine you are playing for about 30 minutes is not giving anythin then you need to go to another machine for awhile and then try your luck there.:-0 Well I am player too and you will not believe me,I enter casino at the age of 14 because I look to mature like 21 so I got the chance to play and learn about it a little and now I am playing for 6 years but not really a big time player.:-0 God bless and have a nice day.:-0

I have to agree with everyone else; I don't believe it's necessarily wrong, I think the problem lies when people cannot learn to respect the limits of gambling and let it be when you are done. It's fine when people can get to playing with extra money, but when you lose money that is important, or you get addicted to playing and you lose money that needed to go to other things. I don't believe it's a sin, but really I don't know what the official "view" is in terms of religion. I guess it could be bad, but again, I think it's up to the individual.

Hi there! Yes, gambling is a sin. Any form of game that involves money is a sin. I have seen people who were rich before but are gamblers and now they have nothing except debts. Some would even pawn valuable things like watches and jewelries and their houses. Even their families have left them. Yeah, that reality in life happens but only to a few. Gambling is like an addiction. At first, luck will make you win and the happiness you'll feel is great but eventually when you have spent so much that is the time you will start loosing and loosing day after day. It is the cycle in gambling. I think to be able to succeed if gambling is your way of earning extra is that you should know how to control it. Know when to stop when you keep on loosing in the game. Ciao!
