Have you ever had a friend steal from you?

A recent post about shoplifting in store reminded me of this, about 5 years ago, someone I thought was a friend stole things from me and other friends. In my case is was my 10 year anniversary ring, packs of cigarettes, and use of my home. We live in a very rural community and back then didn't worry too much about locking our house. One day I headed out grocery shopping with my kids, my son got sick about 5 minutes after we left the house so I turned around and headed back home. When I got there I found this person and 3 others sitting in my living room watching tv. I was extremely upset and kicked them all out, after my son had a nap and was feeling better we went to a hardware store and bought a new lock that afternoon and my husband installed it(the old one had been broken for years but we never thought about it). That night I went to put my earrings away and found my anniversary ring missing. She denied it but another friend told me later that she had seen her wearing it and was told that I had leant it to her, NOT! So have you ever had this type of thing happen to you? What would make a person steal from a friend?

It's sad to hear your experience. I never experience that before, and i really hope i won't. I don't understand why friend steal. They can borrow if they want, or if we won't let, they can buy it, right? What are they thinking when they do so? They feel good about what they did? Will they ever regret?

Yes I have but not any major stuff,Some of the things that got stolen from me are some caps,cd's and DvD's.I dont even know the reason why some people to that kind of stuff specially if they are friends.Im just thinking that maybe he has a sickness like cleptomaniac but maybe it is a little too far, anyway he's somewhere on another country now but we still have communication with each other.Hope you liked my response and have a nice day.

No, i havent but thats really sad. I mean stealing from a friend? How low can you go. I mean if they're in some sort of trouble they should ask you for help Not sinking down and theifing from your own friend!

that's what really hurt, if she had said anything or asked I would have loaned her money. My husband is deaf so he hates shopping and she knew this, she knew he rarely went to stores so a gift like this meant so much to me, usually he catalog shops and has one of the kids pick things up so he doesn't have to deal with people in stores.
