who do you treat first? who do you buy gifts for first? yourself? friends? family? for me, i usually treat myself first for a job well done. i'd buy something for me, usually clothes. and then i would buy stuffs for my little nieces and nephews. and then i would take home a lot of food for the whole family. after that, i treat my friends for a drink or for food. ^__^ we just received our salary differential for the month of July and August. its not much though. still, i bought myself new clothes and so as my little niece Sophie and nephew Xyron. and then i bought ice cream for the family. i have also took some friends out for lunch at Tokyo Tokyo. so who do you share first your blessings?

I first treat my savings account. In this economy, one never knows how long the good times are going to last, so I put the money away and think about it for a while. Then, after the first urge to splurge has safely passed by, I decide what to do with it. It was nice of you to buy ice cream for your family, though. That really was sweet

that's a very practical thing to do drannhh. i do that too sometimes. i also understand the importance of keeping some savings in the bank. its always better to have money on standby.

i buy a sack of rice. i alwasy do that. my mom taught us that when we receive bonus or salary we buy rice. i dont really get bonus for i receive my salary every after performances but when i get extra with the singers and bands i send abroad then i always first buy rice, i am used to it already so it comes out naturally.

having fiur kids makes me scared to ran out of rice. it easy to find ulam for we can eat egg on a no money season or sardines dava.... but to have no rice at all would be something very depressing for me. it is practical yes and it saves my day. lol

you're right. its easier to find a viand than to find rice. that was wise of your mom to taught you that.

Even if its just the usual pay, I'd just set aside something for myself, share on the expenses at home like the electric, water, and telephone bills.. I'd often just give the rest to my mom who manages everything in the house which includes food that she cooks. If I received an extra pay, I'd probably treat the person who was really supportive before the time I got the extra pay.. say a brother was encouraging me, I'd probably buy him a pair of shoes.. if it was my sister, I'd buy him earrings if not something that she's been eying for a long time.. though that could be just her while anticipating pay day.. if it was just the usual day and I just got a raise, I'd probably treat the family out to somewhere.. a film? Eat after then buy groceries? Have not really been used to treating friends since whenever we go out, we all pay for what we bought or what we eat.. unless I'm really generous but, that's a rarity.. (^_^")

wow. you sound like a very good son and brother ratyz. i used to help with the electric bill even though my mother does not oblige me to. now i only pay the internet bill and my mother understands if i can't help with the other bill because she knows how little my salary is.

Be it little or small, it doesn't hurt to share your effort from your hard work by paying some of the expenses (^_^ ) You sound like a good daughter to your mother in this case. If I could only earn my own, I'd probably do those things I mentioned but, as of now, house boy, errands, taking care of nephews are just some of the things that I could contribute with.. (^_^")

Wow, congratulations. I'm still looking forward to our profit-sharing bonus this coming October. When I do receive it though, the first person I'm going to treat... is myself, of course. And then I'd take my family out for dinner, then ask my high school friends out for coffee or something. The rest I'd save up for household/personal expenses. I haven't figured out what I'd be getting myself, though. Anyway, congratulations again and keep on sharing your blessings with others. They will return to you ten-fold. =)

You are soooo thoughtful and generous my friend, it's very refreshing to hear, so many people just spend or waste it on themselves but you put everyone else first, I hope you do have enough to treat yourself too! I am a big soft wolfie because I straight away treat my mum because she does so much and puts up with so much. I usually save any money and I glad I did when I used to work before I went back to college I saved most of my bonuses each month which came in handy because I was able to support myself in college with it because I wasn't earning, but I never forget those that helped me, especially mum and I look after her always.

awww. that is so sweet of you wolfie! whenever i have extra money and if its my mom's birthday, i always want to buy her something nice. but i always end up with nothing. its just so hard to pick something for her. ^__^;; but i know she's also happy when i'm being nice to my sister and her kids so in the end i just buy them things coz i know my mother would be happy for that.

I would put it in the bank and pay the bills or catch up on my credit cards, or I would save it for a rainy day or unexpected repair bill or some sort of calamity or catastrophe. With the financial crisis in America, I'm not even sure I should put my money in the bank. Perhaps I would be better off having it in my hot little hand....if the banks go down....I won't be able to get my money.

Whatever little raise I get in a year, always goes to the bank for my sons expenses. Ive stopped buying things unless necesary, so as to save some money. Here in India, we have no social security for the old, so if you have money in your old age, you eat, or you s tarve. so, its either saved or spent on education. The inflation in India is astronomical, so its always a closed fist when money comes in. Glad you can enjoy your hike. Good luck always.

Thanks bear, but yes, in India you are what you are in the bank. Otherwise old age becomes a curse. Money spent on education is money invested. Thanks for all the support.

Sometimes I ended up shopping not for myself only but for my family aswell... I love giving something to my love ones especially when I do have extra money for it!!! Unless its been a good apy rise then there isnt really enough to treat anyone very much, thats unless its backdated for any length of time ,it would be great to think that we would get a rise that was enough to treat the family to something good, say a meal obut we will be thankful for small mercies anyway.ut or a night at the cinema,or lol even a takeaway.

I would surely be very excited that my efforts have paid off and would like to do something which would make my family happy as a lot rather than something only for myself. I would at the same time would not forget to go to a temple and offer my thanks to almighty for being by my side and rewarding my efforts appropriately.

You are so sweet!! I would love someone to take me out to lunch. LOL If I get any extra money I usually buy something for my son. I buy for him before myself. Then I'd buy something for my hubby. I might would buy some extra goodies that I usually don't buy when I go grocery shopping. Or I might would take the family out to eat and then go for ice cream.

Hello secretbear, Of course it will be my family and that will be my hubby and son. But before that, I will transfer 10% of it to my own bank account (if it is that much ) For the family, I will just buy something for my son and special dinner for hubby. I will treat my mom too and it depends... if it is good enough to spend, I will buy something for her and if it is not, I will bring her to dine out or just give her a cash.

My partner and I are both unemployed (ha! As if, we have 5 kids!), so we don't get work bonuses etc, but we do get lump sum payments at tax time (during the year, we over estimate household income from government benefits). This usually goes towards the Christmas shopping (Australian financial year ends on June 30 and begins on 1 July). The money we make from our online work (hobbies really) is our 'treat' money, and we usually get something for the whole family.

I would treat my family first. We'd probably go out to dinner somewhere special we haven't gone before. I'd buy a new outfit for me, maybe shoes for hubby and a toy for my little girl. I would put some in mutual funds and then treat my parents to another dinner too. If I got a really big bonus, I'd invite my closest friends for a night out on the town.
