Have you ever tried to trace your family tree?

I have been tracing my family tree for a number of years now and in some lines have gotten back to the 1500's. I sometimes wish I had access to a time machine that could take me back in history so that I could meet my ancestors and ask them why they did some of the things they did or went to live in the places they lived.
I have one particularly elusive ancestor who lived in a different place each time the census was taken.

LOL. Yes I have tried to trace it but it was too hard to do because many of the elders in the family has passed away. I didn't know how to contact the others and I don't really have any idea where to start to search for it. I think you have done a great job with tracing the family tree. Congratulations and good luck tracing :)

Thanks for that
Its been hard I wont say it hasnt but I have met so many friendly people along the way who have helped me. Its sometimes that they are connected to the same family tree and so are willing to share information. Sometimes its just knowing where to look in a place thats not familiar to you.
There are also some great sites and mailing groups that you can become a member of. A lot of them are free of charge and the members that are part of them are really knowledgable.
I have been at this for a number of years, I think sometimes thats why I have been able to get as far back in time as I have. Also a lot of my family members are in the UK which is where I am also so that makes it easier.
If you fancy a stab at tracing your ancestors and you do get stuck, just hola!
