Have you ever taken a nap and woke up the next day?

OMG!! I couldn't believe it. I take naps off and on throughout the day because of the meds I take and because of the disability I have, but they usually only last a couple of hours at most. But, the day before yesterday - I don't know what the h*ll happened, but I must have died or something, I swear!! And, I hadn't even taken the medication yet that usually makes me sleepy.
I had been running a lot of errands during the day, so hadn't had a chance to lie down all day. Plus I've been fighting off a cold, so I was plain wore out! Around 4PM, I finally did get to lie down and fell asleep almost right away. Well, when I woke up, it was dark. Not too surprising considering how late I fell asleep. But, then I looked at the clock...2:30AM!!!! OMFG!!! Did I die?????
My friend in New Jersey said it might have been the cough medicine I was taking. I don't know. I just know that it completely blew my mind that I had slept that long and missed so much of the day! Even my cat Screamer didn't know what to do about it since it threw HER timing off as well! (Poor baby. Mama slept right through dinner!)
So, have you ever just been exhausted and took a nap that you thought would be short so you could regroup only to learn it was the next day when you woke up? Or any kind of surprise when you woke up that you didn't expect when you laid down?

Hi Elic. I'd like to introduce my friend, Janice. This was actually HER discussion, but somehow my computer, that she borrowed, jumped from her log in to mine just as she posted it. Believe me - it is confusing because it just did the same thing to me when I responded to another discussion. The box was under MY name, but it posted under HERS. I don't think letting another myLotter use my computer is a good idea anymore, do you?

a normal sleep time for me is maybe 4-6 hours, the pain in my neck and back
is what keeps me flipping around so much, ( lack of sleep)
I'm sorta afraid to "post" anything here comment wise after the earlier
freaky thing happening on the puter..ROTFL!

No I can't say that I have ever taken a nap and woke up the next day. I agree, you were give out and the meds for your cough could have had something to do with it. It has been a long time for me but I have taken a nap and woke up all confused thinking it was the next day and couldn't figure out in my head why it was so bright. hahaha

Really? Wow! I hope my Screamer lives a long healthy life, for I dearly love
her; I have three cats and two dogs my baby Screamer lives with me here,
and my other two are out at my Dad's farm; with my two dogs...I had to move
over a year ago and can only have two pets here, I have it set up for one dog
and my one special cat, Screamer...she is my baby....
when I get the time I will be adding her pics to my photo's page and stuff
here, just haven't quite had the time, but I love this black cat I found
with the purple border, which is what I am using;
I am sure I will be seeing more of you on here;
but your cat is very beautiful!

You were obviously tired and needed the sleep for your body not to wake you up . I have never had this happen because there would be no chance of laying down and not waking up for the simple fact that when I do try to lay down there is always one of my children who needs me for something or my husband has to come tell me something or the phone rings and it is for me or someone comes to visit and they need me to get up lol . There is so much going on that laying down is often more of a way to relax then get any sleep in my house :)

Hi Samtaylorskykierajen, Yeah I really was tired, this silly virus just won't
leave my body I swear it won't; You think you are better, and sorta try to do
things like a normal person and then suddenly you are wore out;
I don't have any kids to wake me up nor a husband, only the people that come
and bang on my door wanting money...LOL! ( loan places) I owe payments pffttt!
when I am really really tired, I turn my phone off or bury the darn thing
under pillows in my front room, and leave the answering machine on of course;
after all I do need that in case something happens and my Dad needs me, but
GOOD THING he didn't the other day...I would've felt really bad.(G)!

Hi Sam, etc! Yes, DreamWeaverJan is the originator of this particular discussion. I had let her use my computer while she was visiting, but apparently it confused the life out of it because her second discussion (this one) posted under MY name even though I wasn't logged on and don't have "sleeping" as my interest!! And, just now, when I went to respond to another discussion, it responded as Jan and not as ME!! Even though I WAS logged on!!!! I'm beginning to feel woozy, I think. I'd take a nap, but I'm afraid HER nap cycle will rub off like her login did!!! LOL

Hi there jerzgirl!
I believe this happened to me twice or thrice already. On one instance, I was really very exhausted and so I decided to take a late afternoon nap (about 5pm) in my room. To my surprise, when I woke up, I saw the time and it was already 530am. Yeah, few minutes before my alarm would ring. I asked my mom why they did not wake me up for dinner. She told me that they did try waking me up for dinner several times but I slept like a baby.

Hi Dolce - That was my friend, Janice. Please see previous responses and her response under #3 for a very confusing explanation of what happened. I still don't know how it did it, but it did. Thank you for responding, though! I hope you check out Jan's discussions as well. She's very new, so doesn't have quite as many as I do, but is hoping to get better as she goes.

I'm so scared to even try doing this - I am afraid it will post as YOU, DreamWeaver. I don't want to be in trouble for something I didn't do wrong!!! JDE, I wanted to say that this is actually Janice's discussion, and thanks for responding. She was logged in on my computer while visiting (she's home now) and this stupid computer jumps from one log in to another - so when she wrote this discussion, it had jumped from HER to ME but she didn't know it. And, just a couple minutes ago, I responded to an earlier comment and dammed if it wasn't under HER name instead of MINE! It's really getting frustrating because I keep making sure I'm logged in, but it magically switches somewhere along the way. Thankfully, Elic said it happened to her when her roommate used her computer, so I know I'm not going crazy - but it's sure as heck gonna DRIVE me crazy if it keeps up!!!

Hi Patsie - when Janice gets back online, I'll have her pop in to add her response, but believe it or not, this was HER discussion. She is DreamWeaverJan (Janice) and borrowed MY computer to do a few myLot discussions. Well, the poor computer went haywire and jumped from her login to mine on her second discussion (this one). Then, a little bit ago, it jumped from MY login to HERS when I was responding to Spark's discussion. I have no idea how it can log in when you're logged off, but it sure has been doing it - and I don't think I'll ever allow another myLotter on my computer again! It really jinxed it!!

Yes if you are taking antibiotics we have to watch out for them, I should know
better too as I am on so much "stuff" but even when I've not been on a lot of
meds, there are times when I've just had a really really really long nap;
Hope to talk to you again sometime...

Yes it happened to me and I remember that I was really very tired that time. Well since I really get irritated whenever they wake me in the middle of my sleep, they didn't woke me up that time when i was taking a nap. Maybe you were really tired back then and maybe having that long sleep has helped you recover.

Hey jerz, I have done that many times. I have layed down
for a nap and the next thing I know it's way later than
I thought and my cats are screaming at me because it's
way past dinner time and they don't understand why they
haven't been fed yet. In fact, I kinda did that today.
I haven't been feeling well this weekend and I usually
stay up really late at night and respond to emails and
yesterday I was in bed from the afternoon up until
tonight which is so not like me. I slept all afternoon
and I don't even think I'll be on here late tonight
because I'm still not feeling too well. I kinda lose
track of time when I take a nap in the afternoon or
stay up late at night and sleep late in the afternoon
especially it I don't have anywhere that I have to go.

When I was still working at old Wally world aka Walmart, we couldn't do that,
'in fact the system was not set up at all for that; and I doubt that has changed
since I've been away from there when I went on disability back in 1999;

I few Saturdays ago, I laid down to take a nap at 6:45 p.m., woke up and it was 3:45 a.m. I was really tired after coming home from massage therapy clinic, told myself I would go to sleep for about an hour. I didn't get to do any of the things I had wanted to around the house so at 3:45 I pretty much stayed up and started my day. I'm not on meds, I just pretty much have been burning the candle at both ends. : )

lol hell yeah its happened with me alright. M doin a course of architecture and Me and my college mates were working in a intercollege competition. We used to stay back in college after hours and even stay for the night, it was like we almost started living in college, stay up at late nights completing the competition work and sleeping late and getting up early to attend lectures, as profs used to screw our case for not attending their lectures and doing the competition work as it was a extra curriculum activity we use to sleep for only 2 hours daily. after all the things were over, i returned home one day after more than a month totally exhausted. it was almost 7 in the morning. i told my mom not to give me breakfast and i just lied down and god knows when i fell asleep and when i woke up it was 7.30Am. after seeing the time i thought "good i just slept for half an hour". Lol and it was then after taking the newspaper in hand i realised it was the next day, and i was shocked. i thought to myself what the hell just happened.!! ITS THE NEXT DAY!! what the hell happened and then my mom told me that i had slept for 24 hours continuous!!!!!

Wow - I agree with Jan! That's one really long sleep - it would scare the hell out of me to think I'd lost that much time and couldn't account for it (even if someone did tell me I was in the bed the whole time). Just scary! But, with all the studying and focus on studies, you probably wore yourself out so much your body needed to re-group!
