My Step father was hit by a drunk driver and killed in July. My step Dad was an acholic and treated my 3 sisters, my Mom and myslef very badly. He was a mean drunk. I'm having a hard time with all this because we have a very young man getting charged with murder for doing the same thing My step father has done almost his whole life Driving drunk. To me it seems to be carma. Now everyone in the family is wantting to though the book at this young man who hit him. Yes he was driving drunk and he killed a man but I'm so sad to see this young man also lose his life. The DA wants all of to wright letters to the judge to help convict him. I'm haveing a hard time with this. What do you think? I want to know what you think, It will help me deal with this.

I would write the truth. I would let the judge know how you really feel. Your feelings are valid. I agree, it is Karma at work here.

the point is that if this young kid hadnt have gotten your family member it would have been another, convicted drunk drivers are convicted to prevent what they did from happening again. My brother was killed by a drunk driver, the DA supported us, but the rich dad hired the best and got his sentence from 9 to 2 3/4 years. Now its been 5 years and that ignorant kid is out on the streets again, free to drive drunk and kill when he wants. If drunk drivers are not stopped then they will cause harm, maybe your step dad did it all his life and never killed anyone, fine, but hes just one person, and if this young kid had been behind the wheel of the car that killed my brother id want him put away. Maybe its not so hard to miss your step dad, but i miss my brother everyday.

I can understand that this is a really tough situation and I would probably have a tough time knowing what to do,and I believe in Karma and maybe it was Karma coming back on your step dad for driving drunk, but at the same time it does not make it right that the young man was doing it,and I think I would write how I feel even though I feel that the young man is guilty and the young man does deserve to be punished for his crime.
