It is already up here in Canada. We will just live normally. My husband has to go to physiotherapy downtown twice a week, and he cannot walk there or take the bus - he has a hard time even doing the shopping and he has to use the grocery cart for support and we do it after therapy on Tuesday. And we do not live downtown and do not intend to. We do go and pay bills on a couple of days a week and drive home right away. We cannot do anything else.
You cannot just give up your life.

There is no shortage in gasoline and never was. This is just another way the stupid oil companies can rip the people off some more. This hike in price will get the oil companies millions they wouldn't have made without Ike. The wild wasn't but 95 MPH when Ike came ashore and that won't damage the refineries other that water. If they had built the refineries in the right place they would be inland and on higher ground. They built them there just so they could do things like this. I don't know how much more it will take to wise the people up where they will put a stop to this being ripped off every time we turn around. Anyone that would put that much hurt on the American People just to make a lot more profit need to be taken out and shot.

I for one agree with you and now the oil co"s are closing down the refineries for a week (for repairs!) repairs to their bank accounts cause gas had come down in price a little

That is exactly correct. If people are going to get to work and back and do what they need to do they have no choice but buy gasoline. Here is something else that these jerks are doing that is hurting us a lot6 more than them jacking the price of gasoline up. These people are also pulling the same thing on the trucking industry. The trucks must have diesel fuel or they don't run. This is what is causing everything to go up. If the trucking companies have to pay more for their fuel they don't have any choice but raise their charges. That makes the price go up on anything that is hauled on a truck. Look through your house and you won't find 3 things that haven't been on a truck at some point. This is what is driving the cost of food up so high.

You had better get the congress to approve offshore drilling and uncap those wells. I take this as a warning. America was supposed to use its resources of oil and not listen to the people who do not want drilling done because it might harm the animals. Now there is Hurricane Ike. Had there been drilling allowed, gasoline would not have been in short supply. This short supply was created artificially by those who forbade off shore drilling and caused America to rely on foreign oil.
The prices have soared already.

It's sad how last Aug. the price of gas was around $1.50-$2.00 cheaper a gallon. No wonder everything is going downhill with people having a hard time just trying to go to work, much less trying to buy things.

We have to find ways to reduce our consumption of gasoline. I am testing a fuel additive that is supposed to increase the gas mileage. I will know in a little while whether it actually lives up to its claim. Also my friend is putting together a gadget that will use water and reduce considerably the gas consumption. You can find this gadget on Utube. I don't know if it will actually work. I will know that later also.

Any time you talk about increasing the mileage a car gets on a gallon of gas you are going head to head with the big oil companies. If you try to mass produce something like that they will stop you if they have to pay someone to kill you to do it. Why do you think there hasn't been a high mileage car built in the US? The money that runs the oil companies and the Auto makers is coming out of the same pocket. The investors will not allow the auto makers to build a car that will get good gas mileage. It would threaten their oil profits and they are not going to allow that. The only hope we have is to make it more profitable for the oil companies to drop their price. The only thing that would do that is to stop buying their gasoline and that ain't gonna happen.

If prices keep going up, I think there will be all kinds of gadgets and additives. We won't have to make them, we can just buy them.
The gasoline companies will have to kill many people. But then again?
