Grocery shopping - grocery shopping

I love it when I get to go shopping. I love to go up and down every aisle looking at everything. I like to look and see what is on offer and to browse around at leisure. It's nice to look around and get new ideas for what to cook for dinner and have a good look at the labels on things. When the kids were on their summer holidays, I dreaded having to do the weekly shop because one minute they wanted to be in the shopping cart, the next thing they wanted to get out. They wanted help me one minute and the next they wanted to do their own thing. I used to go in, get what I wanted and get out as quickly as possible. Now the kids have gone back to school it is all done, nice and calmly and back to browsing, ahhhh. How about you? Do you loathe doing the shopping and get your partner to do it? Do you love going around happily looking at everything that is available?

Hi Humbug, Yes I am fine when I am shopping alone have a browse for all the offers but if any of my children are with me I just know from the beginning it will be a trolley full of trash LOL that they want and no main meals or real bargains and I get flustered so I shop online during holiday periods as muc as possible to avoid this. Another thing I do that I have found works well is if i is a small shop I will give my four year old 5 things to remember and that takes his mind off other things and I only end up with what I need with no stress as he is really pleased when he remembers all five items. Ellie :D

Actually, I'm a coupon shopper. I look at shopping as a challenge to see how much I can get for my money. My kids are at the age just recently where they can stay home alone, although my daughter (10) still wants to go where mom is going. She often disappears into the magazine/book aisle while I shop (we live in a very small town, very safe). Actually, I think she has been getting into the bargain thing like I am. My husband loves shopping together. In fact he says its romantic (he occasionally sneaks a little squeeze in). It's fun to go out together and we get a kick out of how much we can save.

Hi ya rocketj1 You have to be careful with those coupons though because you end buying something you wouldn't normally thus spending more! I must admit that I am at fault for doing this very thing!! Thanks for responding

Well you seem to have it all sewn up then!! I think coupons work a bit differently in the UK!

True. But I've gotten pretty good at it. They double them up to 50cents. And one store doubles to $1 on Sundays. I use coupons on items I'm in need of AND I use them on items that are already on sale. I save on average with coupons and store sales between 40 and 60%.

I love grocery shopping. This activity was one of our family bonding moments when we were younger and well, when my dad was still here. I love going around the toiletries area and the chocolates and cookies area. My dad always let me pick whatever cookie and chocolate I want. When I turned 16, the grocery shopping was left with just the 3 of us, my mom and dad and me. My younger brother just follows when we're going to have lunch already. And now that I am 21, I just do the grocery alone. I still love looking around and reading the packages of whatever catches my eye. I miss doing the grocery shopping with my dad.

Hi there marababe Awww that is really sweet. I don't think my dad has even stepped foot inside a supermarket in his life. I think he has always had someone to do it for him. Thank you for responding

I do especially if it is something that could be used to cook something delicious. I get excited when I shop for ingredients that could at least alter my daily menu even just for that day.

I do. We even went grocery shopping earlier during lunch break with my officemates and we didn't notice that our lunch break is already over. Love buying foods especially ice cream. I usually stock food in my cubicle in the office and it's always full. Before I don't like grocery shopping because I don't have my own money then and my mother and I would just usually buy stuffs that we use at home. But now things change. Love pushing the cart and looking at stuffs. I even dream of winning in a contest that would make all the stuffs you put in your cart with a limited time would be yours. lol!

Hi there marciascott I too love to shop but hate to unpack it and put it away when I get home. This very week actually I got all the fridge and freezer stuff out and put that away and left the rest for a couple of days before I put it away!! I wasn't very well and I just didn't feel like doing it!!

Even hate it I still do all the gorcery shopping. I guess hate is a strong word it is just that I find it boring since I buy the same things everyweek around the same time and there is no spotenaety at all. Not like other shopping, I actually enjoy clothes shopping and other shopping since it is more spontaneous.

Hi there bowtieguy I can see how you would find it boring, you need to get some variety in your diet if you buy the same things week in, week out and maybe try shopping at a different grocery store. Good luck Thank you for your response

No, I hate it. The quicker I can get in and out of those places the better. The only parts I like to look at are the stuff for the house, and even that bores me after a few minutes especially if I have no money. I am the only one that does it too so it is just a pain. I hate having to take my kids, it always ends up costing me a fortune!

Yes, I do. Supermarkets are bright, cheery places where there are a lot of different things to see and consider buying. I do enjoy this and I like to do it by myself. That way I can spend as much time as possible.

I enjoy it if I have the opportunity to do it alone. When the kids are all with me it is very stressful, but when I am alone I can take my time, and see what's new and compare prices. I can really enjoy then.

Hi Humbug, well ive been shopping today and the answer to yuor question id YES I enjoy shopping.I like to browse the supermarket and look for the bargains, they do some good BOGOFs and if you look closely you can always find some other good offers too.I tend to `do` the supermarket in the same way, unless of course they are on one of their marketing strategies and have moved everything around so that you have to search for anything you want, then it has to be done differently.I look for reductions,I often find loaves of bread that are on there date, they are as fresh as a daisy,so I buy them an freeze them, and Tesco have meat on ofer, three packs for ten pounds, good value.Aldi do a good deal on fruit ,they have five or six fruits on offer every week, and they are good prices.Sainsburys are running the feed the family for a fiver campaign,so I look on the internet to see waht they are planning for that weeks meal.Al in all the family shopping is like a day out at a funfair, thats when you take the kids with you.

Hi there Pikelet, any relation to p1kef1sh? Well you most certainly shop around don't you? It would cost me too much in perol to do that so what I had managed to save in groceries would have gone on my petrol. I shop at Tesco mostly because you at least get points for that! Thank you for responding and welcome to myLot

I personally hate going grocery shopping. It's so boring in my opinion. To me, it's like a chore lol. The only thing that I like about it is probably when I see something I really want to eat and have the money to buy it, I'll get it. :D Also another thing I hate is waiting in lines and sometimes the cashiers are so dumb, it's not even funny. Some of them don't even know how to give back change properly. Anyways, grocery shopping is lame!

Hi there Saiyan25 Well we are all entitled to our opinions but don't go dissing the cashiers!! My mum is one and she is darn good at her job. It can't be easy working as a cashier especially when you get people that have no patience or are having a bad day as they take it out on others and that's not fair! Thank you for your response and welcome to myLot

I enjoy going grocery shopping when I have time and can take my time shopping. My husband usually goes with me and he likes to look around too and helpme find bargains. I don't like to go when I'm all rushed and in a hurry. That takes the pleasure out of shopping.

I love all kinds of shopping! And I always look forward doing grocery shopping. I love it every time I get bargains. I feel good about myself that I made a good buy. Every time I go shopping I always tag along a sibling or two so I have someone to carry the bags. Hehe. And I get to teach them how to do it too. ;D

I love doing grocery shopping and I make sure that when i do my groceries I make a list on what are the items I need to get.Like I make sure that I do it for once in two months as It makes me to buy in bulk and alos I would know how much I am spending.I usually do it with my husband and he helps me out if I would have left any thing. He makes sure that he would get his things also done and that makes it more easier for me. Regards
