Out of curiosity, i just counted the number of discussions posted in the past 24 hours and did not have a reply yet. I just saw an amazing number of 813. What do you think the reason to be? Isn't it highly probable that a discussion get at least one reply, as we have more than a lakh members here in mylot?

True, the number of discussions that are started in minute might well be around 10+ i think. That could be one reason, and having lesser friends could be one other.

There can be number of reasons why those discussion have not yet any posts at this time. First, perhaps there not much members on those discussions particular interest. Second, half of us are on the other side of the world sleeping, or the others on the other side are at work. Cheers!!!

And of course, perhaps some of our members here don't find the discussion interesting or prefer not to respond on them. It also doesn't mean some of our discussions are worthless. Some members prefer not to respond or comment on some topics for their own reasons. It is also a way we can gauge what topics our other friends on here are interested in. I don't mind my discussions without a single response. It simply means think of another one that is more appealing to our friends to respond on. As an example, I do not respond to discussions about religion. It is a good topic, but religion has been a topic and debate for centuries and it hasn't done anyone any good. I respect others opinions on that. So I prefer not to say anything about something that has kept us all divided as a way of control. Cheers!

Oh gee that is alot isn't it! I have seen other people talking about this before and they have said that maybe it is has something to do with the time that they posted their discussion like as to whether there are alot of people on line at that time and also how many friends they have in their as to how many people view their discussion but honestly who knows maybe the heading just didnt catch anyone's attention!

Sometimes, even the topics are all the same. Things are quite different. No one knows what might end up. It always depends!

That is plenty of number alright, usually it happens when they are new here in mylot whereby no one could notice what they posted, or probably the rest of the world are sleeping when they started the discussion, lol. But often, people can't respond for reasons they can't spice up something with the topic at hand.

Its because of topping of more and more discussions,
and because of having less friends,
time gap between your place and others,
so to overcome these atleast i am helping others by reponding on no responses..
because i feel hurt when i get no responses, still i have many

That's true, i feel hurt as well if i don't get a reply. Even start getting tensed if i do not find any responses after 30min i started the discussion. I don't have a count of how many discussions of mine are not responded yet though. I just don't look at them and to find one is painful.

That is many though! I don't really know what the reason behind this, but it could be wrong timing! Last week I spend a lot of time responding with zero response and mainly the newbie! But I think most of it was been deleted which its not good at all. And now I'm just responding to a discussion that interest me. Thanks.

I don’t answer topics which I am not knowledgeable in or that which do not attract my interest. Sometimes I find certain posts written in really bad English that I can hardly understand. Usually I skip to the next post.

This is a huge number indeed. But I feel the reason as: almost many users start atleast 6-7 discussion in just 20 minutes. So it would take some time for the other people to respond to the newly posted discussions. Also it is very important that the post is interesting and has something to share. I select only those posts that interest me. If I have something to share, I will respond to the discussion. Otherwise, I just look for the next post. You can find that atleast 30% of the zero response posts would have nothing to share. It would also be in a single line. Some would be from new members..

Hmm some of them were from new members, but it was surprising to find many of them from people who were nearing 100 posts. And another thing i noticed was that, some of them had a fair bit of repetition factor involved with respect to some discussions stated before. I think that could also be a reason.

Could be that most of the friends on the discussion makers list are in bed or at work and haven't seen the discussion yet other than that, it's the best guess I have but it could be just that, they're busy doing something and just haven't seen the discussion yet.

Wow, that is really a lot. Maybe they were really new and just had not been commented on yet, but will be. I had no idea there were that many unanswered discussions. That is kind of sad. I know how terrible I feel when my discussions don't get any responses or maybe only a couple. Now I feel bad, I am going to go and answer some with no responses.

I am surprised at that number, wow! I will admit i dont check the "no responses" tab very often, but i do on occasion, and will admit that some of the topics are quite interesting..i ralize that the ones that have no replies are sometimes brand new, but have found quite af ew that are older and stil no replies..that surprises me for sure.

Yeah, and one thing about the old discussions is that the ones who started that have very few friends. That's one thing i noticed during my initial days at myLot too.

i think maybe the topics are not interesting, maybe they are not good quality, maybe they are hard to answer.

OH my i think that's a high number indeed.
But I guess, my best guess would be maybe because of the number of discussions posted at any given time, sometimes the discussions posted gets swept along the tide if you get my drift... And they don't get noticed as much as the poster would like.
Even if the topic is a catchy one, if it's gets in a sense bumped off due to the number of posts posted after it, not many gets to answer it...

Some discussions do not get a single response for years... depending on the one who started it... they are mostly started by newbies who do not have any friends yet... and when they finally do... they can always make an appeal to these friends or the whole mylot community to reply to their discussions with no response...
I did that last year... so no... i do not have one discussion with zero response... thanks to my friends here...

Sometimes when I go to discussions with no responses i find it hard to find any that makes sense. Really, some new useres are spamming mylot with tons of gabberish. Usually there are couple fresh discussions tha are good but nobody have finidhed to write their response yet:P But many, many other are just not interesting, like another topic about what browser is better IE or Firefox etc. on the other hand I have some discussions with no responses and I personally think hey're good, quality discussions. The thing is I posted them in the interest than not so many people have on their list or visit. But I still wrote it there because I belive that it's better this way than put it in popular interests that have no connection with the topic but will gain attention. And the last thing is a time zones aspect. Sometimes when somebody makes a disussion peole who would respond to it are not here but are sleeping insted but then 15-20 new discussions will show up and cover it's existance. That could be the problem, too.

yes dear sreekumarn86 many of our associates are not so fortunate to generate the responses, either because they are new or their discussion is not able to generate enough curiosity among the mylot community, because of the level or someother reason!!
it has happened with me also but on very few discussions!!

Hi sreekumarn86,
I cannot understand that because I always respond to all the discussions I recieved in my mail box, it could be because it Mondon and people are getting ready for work, it depends on which part of the world your in but in the U.K they are at work at this time.
