300 is based on a true story. The spartans were the elite force of the land in there time. They were threatened by the Persian army and the battle of "thermopalee"(not sure of spelling) the hot gates did occur, first with 300 soldiers and later with many more. The spartans turned out victorious and were later defeated by there seclusion of the outside world. I believe anyone who is interested in 300 research the original olympic games, as i believe that had a huge part in it. Obviously they were brave and strong warriors, but i highly doubt they looked like those of the movie.

The spartans were just smart in battle, there entire lives revolved around war, which allowed them time to fight and build strength. The persians weren't necessarily evil, but wanted to be a dictatorship, but the spartans were the only ones who would stand up to such evil that others thought could not be stopped. The spartans were just willing to die trying and is what some did.

The library has some great books, on the internet you can find stuff just becareful on what you read (some of it is a bunch of made up stuff), and then the discovery channel has a show that airs sometimes on the spartan warrios.

Glad i'm not the only one that knows there is truth to 300, of course not all of it, but the movie itself was based off of a factual occurance in history.

I knew about the history of Spartans even before the movie was launched,
just to entertain the audience much more, they have included special effects and manipulated a the story just to make it more interesting for the audience.
It is not completely true what the have shown

Yep, thats right. Yea i learned about it in history class about 8 years before the movie, and then watched a documentary on it on the discovery channel a few months before it came out.
