My son is on my neck

My son wants to know if i have a girlfriend. If i do, is she as beautiful as my wife? Mind you, my wife is still alive. What do you think he is driving at?

How old is your son? He may not be driving at anything. Also if he is a very young child he may not completely understand the husband-wife bond (that is, monogamy).

You are worth listening to because you did not just post a response but you first of all asked the right questions; like how old my son is. He is just six years old and only exploiting his freedom of expression.

I'm not sure of the etiquette of replying to comments, so for now I'll just reply this way. With a 6 year old son I don't think the son is driving at anything. However... my personal experience tells me that this might be a sign that your wife suspects something. Or that your wife jokes around about it... I don't know your wife, so perhaps she really is joking or has some underlying insecurities.
My example is that I poke fun at my parents by mentioning extramarital affairs, but this is a case where it is perfectly known that it's just humor and not real. However I can imagine that in some cases it could be passive-aggressive to turn an insecurity into humor, an attempt to distance oneself from the suspicion.
So maybe your wife has been joking to your son, and as a result your son perhaps believed it (being only 6 years old) and is asking you about it? It could simply be just a joke that your son "fell for" so to speak.
