There are so many brands of Energy Drinks in the market today. They come in bottles, cans and even sachets. But all of them promise one thing: an increase in your physical energy and mental alertness. I've tried drinking them too before. Specially when I would be in a graveyard shift wherein I have to stay awake in the wee hours of the morning to perform my job well. For me, they are actually effective. I do stay awake and it gives me a boost in my energy. My father loves drinking them too. He drinks them almost everyday but I do warm him of the adverse effects of consuming too much of it. I've heard before that it can decrease calcium levels in our body. Of course, anything excessive can always do harm for us. Have you heard of other side effects of drinking Energy Drinks? Do you also drinl them and are they effective for you?

hi tidgea, first of all, yeah i've tried drinking some energy drinks too especially in college when we're doin' thesis and other hell of papers..we would gulp them at 2am because pepsi max is already all used up in our systems..they're effective, yes. but yes they also have bad effects. though i didn't know the thing about calcium all i know is, as i was told by friends and my dad who's also been an energy drink addict for some time, daily/regular consumption of energy drinks could drain your natural energy as you become dependent in them so you'll feel like you always have the need for some. i stopped drinking them except maybe for gatorade which i think i could still drink some time lols. if i need an energy boost, i would drink coffee with ganoderma extract =)

Energy drinks like red bull and power shot can gradually decrease your health because they contain more than 80% caffeine and carbohydrates, so your body's power to absorb fat and vital nutrients gradually decreases and leades to problems like GERD and gastritis, and other gastrointestinal problems. Your natural fluid exchange slows down, this could lead to life threatening problems if you are an athlete or other high performance worker. Also be ready for "Extreme Diarrhea" But it also give you a boost in your alertness so the general rule is less than 3 cans a day 3 days a week
