I'm a lousy cake maker !!

Hi everyone.. I think I'm a good cook .. I can cook lots of not-easy recipes and international dishes but when it comes to dessert, even a simple cake, I'm a complete failure !! I don't know why .. and I don't think it's the oven because I can bake salty pies and so on ..
What do you think is wrong with me??!!

What do you mean by "failure"? What does it taste like? I kinda find it quite easy to cook/bake just as long as I have all the ingredients and if I have the recipe. As long as I follow the recipe, I do well. I think cooking food is actually harder than desserts - desserts are only usually mix and bake.
That's a pretty weird problem. BTW my sister and I made oatmeal raisin soft batch cookies yesterday - they tasted like ginger bread. We're planning to sell them during the Christmas season and we're making a batch of free tastes. That wasn't to annoy you, it's just sort of my resume for you :P

What are you doing? Are you trying to make cakes from boxes, (cake mix) or are you making them from scratch? I have never made a cake from scratch, but I have a fool proof way of making a boxed cake that no one can tell the difference.
I actually made a double chocolate cake this week end, which was so moist, and simple to make you would never had thought it was from a box. I had a church picnic to go to, and really did not have anything to bring. I decided to cut up the rest of the cake, I had only taken one slice, and bring it. When I left the picnic, there was not one piece of my cake left
This is what you do. I use a box of cake mix, if I am using chocolate, I will use one pack of chocolate pudding, any other flavor I will use vanilla pudding.
Regardless of how many eggs it calls for I will use only one, following the directions as to how much water you should use. Now, instead of using vegetable oil, I use two heaping tablespoons of mayonaisse, YES, I SAID MAYONAISSE. mix it all together with an electric blender. spray and flour your cake pan, and bake until done. If you do this correctly, you will never have a problem producing a great cake.
