How do you deal with a friend whom you trusted and yet is backstabbing you?

I have a guy friend who at the same time is also working in our family business. I really felt that we were close and I felt that I could confide in him about anything and he'd keep it to himself. However, lately I've been hearing from some of my other friends that whenever I'm not around he would say a lot of mean things about me...like I'm using the company's money for personal use...that I don't treat our employees equally...and to make matters worst he spills my secret to other people. I've talked to him about it but he denied the allegations saying that my other friends are just jealous because we have a different bond? I feel like I've been cheated but I can't just prove it. What can I do? Has this happened to anyone of you?

that happened to me also.. what i did is that i faced that pseudo friend and confronted him told him that i know the truth and there's no use of denying it.. who would admit such thing right?
