Every Sunday my family gathers at my Grandma's for Sunday Dinner. So that means every Sunday around 3 there are about 20 people in her house at once (I know so Soul Food lol). A couple of Sundays ago my Grandma was put into the hospital for a stroke, So for the first time last Sunday we didn't have a Sunday Dinner. I was so lost with the day and didn't know what to do, So everyone (all 20) sat at the hospital waiting on good news. So not to have a repeat of last Sunday I called everyone up and told them I (being only 26) was going to cook dinner for everyone. Now this was a surprise to everyone since I'm only in charge of making my grandma's Mac and Cheese from a recipe she made up herself and passed it on to me. So I set up everything at my grandma's Sunday after church and made the best spaghetti ever! Even though it felt weird not to have my grandma there, it felt good to have the family back to somewhat being normal. I got to go to the hospital later to share my experience with my grandma. Even though she wasn't able to taste anything (she has to have her good pureed, she was proud I stepped up above everyone to make it happen!

So cute SweetNkky, I'm sure you made your grandma proud of you. It is things like these that make our parents and grandparents feel very proud of us, which show that we can step up to bring all the family together and we will not be letting go whatever the situation. You would have made her so happy, she's going to be back home and about by next Sunday. You did it!!

She was very proud! The doctors have already prepared us for a long hospital stay. She has lost a lot of her motor skills and it's going to take a lot of rehab to get her in the shape she needs to be in to go home. It is hard for us since our family is big on eating and right now that is one thing she is having trouble doing. She is having to rebuild the muscles in her throat so she will be able to swallow whole foods again. I thank you all for your such kind words!

Lucky lol you are lucky and all of your relations are lucky that all of you have such a great grandma who host dinner for all of you and you enjoy. It is called here joint Family. Though all lives at their own places but on the week end they are a joint family and enjoy like any thing. I am not so lucky. We are a small family neither have mother-father from both the sides nor have grand parents from both the sides. May god bless all wishes of elders specially of the grand ma. Have nice day and comment.

Thanks for the comment, I do feel so lucky. My boyfriend comes from a real small family as well and the relatives he does have he is not close to at all. So he is a big part in my family. My family doesn't just consist of blood relatives a few are real good friends of the family they we have adopted as Aunts and Uncles. We also deliver meals to the sick and shut in around my grandma's neighborhood so that brings us all closer together too.
