My Granny died yesterday she was 90 and lived a wonderful long life. The last time I saw her in July she told me that she was the luckiest woman in the world because she had her thee favorite granddaughters.
My Granny got married at the age of 17, to a man she really did not love. She lived with him for 25 years. She could not take his drinking any longer.
My Granny was a fun loving woman who loved to laugh, and have a good time.
The one thing about my Granny is I knew she loved me no matter what I did growing up. Growing up we never know from one minute if we where going to get kicked out of our home or not. My twin sister and I where not wanted and where told on a daily basis by our mother we where not wanted and the cause of all mom's problems. With Granny she loved us for who we where no matter if we made mistakes and we where not the cause of all her problems, nor was our mom the cause of all of Granny's problems.
Granny and I spent lots of time together shopping, eating and just hanging out once I became an adult. I was with her when her third husband died I planned the funeral. I could not take care of Granny at the end because I was already taking care of mom and ill myself. So Granny moved up to Washington to be cared for by my older sister.
At the end Granny had a shot illness and peaceful death. I am very glad of that.
Granny will be missed but now she is with her husband, and her two brothers, and four sisters and her mom and dad once again, I am so glad of that. I do not know why she lived to be 90 but I am glad she did.
Her body will cremated and flown down here to CA so she can be buried by her husband. I will be hosting a celebration of her life at my home. I know my older sister and her family will come I hope my twin sister can fly down also. I need my sisters around me so we can celebrate our time we had with Granny. I am hoping that our Cousin can fly in also. I am sure there are other friends and family member that will show up.
I just wanted to let all of my friends know what happened in my life.
And do not get me started on how mom acted when I told her. That is for another discussion.
Thanks for listening.

Hi , i want to know if it's the veterens memorial in westwood ( los angeles?) you seem like a wonderful person. i'm sorry that you and your mom don't get along. and that your mom is sick. i don't get along w' my mother either. even though i'm considered homeless i live in motels because i can't find a place. it's really really hard. i'm too educated and good for this baloney. and it's also very dangerous around here. sounds like your sister is greedy and cares only for herself, like my family members. sigh..... sandy

I will be going to her burial when the ashes get here.

My condolences! It's sad to lose a beloved one. But for your grandma to live till 90 is already a big blessing from God. Every person who lives beyond 60 years old should thank God for this grace. Come to think of it... 90 years on earth is still not that long. Given the chance and if still strong and healthy... I suppose many would still opt to live longer than 90.Indeed life is short, so we have to make the most of it. God knows what is best... when He calls us home... we have no choice but to go! Again my condolences to you and the rest of the family.

I am so sorry to hear about your granny's passing, teapotmom. No matter a person's age, it's always very hard to deal with the loss of somebody so dear to us. It's wonderful that you have such great memories, of the way she cared for you when you were growing up. I do hope that all of your relatives will be able to fly in, for the memorial. Please take care of yourself, and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm deeply sorry your loss. I know how you feel and reading your article brings back memories of my grandma. I too lost mine when I had chicken pots. So I couldn't see her in the hospital and my mom told me the last time she got to see my grandma, she kept asking about me and wanted to see me bad.
You seem to have a lot of great memories of your grandma. My prayers are with you and your family.

Granny was a wonderful person. You where the one who I told the story of going to Vegas with her. We also went to Vegas one time with her husband and my husband. We stayed on the 17th floor of the hotel. It had a picture window looking out over the mountains. The whole wall was window. Now Granny was afraid of heights, so Granddad and I would stand at the window and he would pretend to push me out the window and call Granny to look at us. She would get so scared and let out a yelp. We would laugh and laugh.
We traveled a few times with Granny and Granddad, her third hubby but I loved him like he was my real grandfather. We always had such great times.

Hey tea, I'm so sorry to hear about your Granny. I know how
much she meant to you. At least you have alot of really
good memories to remember her with. I know you are sad, but
like you said she is now with the people that she loved and
missed and someday you will see her again too. But, for now
you can just be happy that you had her for as long as you
did and as you said celebrate her life. You still have all
those wonderful photos to get together and put on that tree
that you want to make and I'm sure she will be so proud of
you for doing that. So just be strong and know that she loved
you so much no matter what and always keep her in your heart.
May God Bless you and your family, Opal

I am sorry to hear about your loss. From your writing it shows how much you love your granny and that is good. At least you do not have any regret now that she is no longer with all of you.
Sometimes, we take people for granted until they are no longer around. I believe that your granny had a good life and now she is resting in peace.
Take care and all the best in moving on with your life.
