Worth it?

Anyone here not sure if college was worth it? I finished my Liberal Studies degree this summer and am starting an Anthropology degree in a couple of weeks and keep wondering if its all worth it? I owe so much money now its sickening. I'm not your average aged student either so I have family and bills to worry about. Sure, my son is proud of me and my mother is quite tickled, but I can't get a job where I'm at now. Every place I apply to ignores me, says they don't have anything I'm qualified for, or says I'm over qualified. These are places like Walmart, Safeway, Alberstons, Radio Shack, JC Pennies, and etc. Am I too smart for them. Do they think I'll take their jobs? I don't know, when I was younger and only had a GED it was easy to get work, now I haven't worked in many years, other than work study. Anyone else in the same boat?

I have had some college but did not get a degree because I took a break in order to raise my children. I know many people who have college degrees and never work in that field. It is a shame. On the other hand, education is never a waste of time, even if it does not contribute to your career. I may go back to college at some point, but probably for a different area of education.

Thank you. I guess just the fact that I did this for myself is worth it, but wow, sometimes you just have to wonder. I have learned so much though, and I'm not even referring to what I have learned in my studies focus.
