Man what a weekend I have had. It really wasn't that bad as I am one that can deal with stress. It is just that when I am with my wife she makes it even worse. She is a pnaicky type. She freaks at every thing. Even the little ones. First off I have a bad cold. Then I am trying to quit smoking so that stresses me out and makes me somewhat cranky. Had brake work done. Well to a point. Turns out the Auto Parts Store gave us the wronk pasrt ands they were closed by the time we realized that. So the son in law replaced the brakes so we could head home. Just outside of the tunnel on Interstate I94 the brakes on the rear right locked up and I could not move. Sat on a very dangeropus and busy part of the highway waiting for my son-in-law to fix what was wrong possibly. After an hout=r he came to our aid. All the time sitting there with the traffic flying by at 60MPH shaking the car from the wind, my wife is jerking and jumping in a panic wondering when we'd get hit. Grrr! Calm down woman, you make me more nervous and panicky. Hahaha! Turns out in his rush to get us home he forgot to tighten a major bolt. That was the cause of my breakdown. Then today I have to schedule 3 different appointments for dads presurgery the 23rd for the next 7 days. Just a little stress. Time to take a cup of chill pill juice (coffee) Thanks all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Well by the sounds of it, you are like my hubby and I am like your wife! It only takes a minor minor thing for me to act like the world is going to end! I am a major stresshead I can tell you. Does not do me much good mind as I lose weight when I am stressed and it makes me ill, do not know why I get so panicky about everything! Well, it sounds like you have had a pretty crap weekend, but hopefully now it will all get better from here.

A car passes us on the highway normally and nowhere near close to us and my wife freaks out and screams. This causes me to react sometimes not knowing why she screamed. I tell her to stop as it wasn't anything to freak out about. And she wonders why she is a lousy driver when she did drive. Hmmm? Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Wait, isn't coffee supposed to rev one up... lol. Wow, sounds like you had an interesting weekend and some to come. I hope you got some time to spend with the grandkids. I'm sure they made you smile;) Interesting though, my husband says I'm too panicky, too. Most be a female thing;)

I drink so much coffee that it actually calms me down. Not much time with the grandkids either. I got there and they were gone at friends playing. When they did get home they both sat at the puter game playing. Hahahaha! Did see them eat though. Hee hee hee. Noone panics like my wife. I am serious. I pass a car on the highway and it is far away when she sees it, she jumps then screams. Scares me. I keep telling her she is going to cause me to have a heart attack while driving from her reactions. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Hi Grandpa Bob, I wish I could pay for a round trip ticket for you, so that you could come 'up here' to teach me how to better handle stress. It really seems this is all I've had lately, so something 'has to' improve soon. That incident on the highway does sound scary to me, but it's a good thing you were there to reassure your wife. If anybody can get the job done, and schedule all of your dad's appointments on time, I'm betting on you. Just make sure you don't overdo, as you don't want to make your cold any worse.

I am so glad that you are good with stress, I am not good with stress at all. I am sure too that with you not feeling well along with trying to stop smoking did make you stressed. Maybe getting all the appointments set up for your dad and taking him to get things done will take your mind off of some things going on. I hoe your "chill pill" drink helped you.

You've really had a horrible time, GB - I feel for your wife too, as it would have been very frightening stuck in the car like that. I hope things go smoothly with your Dad's medical business and that you got your cup of chill pill (or two) Chin up, and keep smiling!

Oh dear that certainly was a bad weekend I have to say though that I have been stuck on a Motorway a couple of times with the Company Car breaking down and it scared me to as all it takes is for a Driver to be distracted and next thing you know they could hit you As for being more stressed as you are trying to stop smoking I am the same Are you still on the Champix as I am back on them doing good so far but it is still hard

hahah of course she is panic, I would be too, you both were like sitting ducks literally in the middle of speeding traffic ! in a way you could get hit when getting out of the car or stay inside there is no way around it anyway yes I am the panicky type and my husband always have hard time calming me down he told me he doesn't like panicking or worrying because it won't help and it will disturb his sleep I've been trying to control it but now and then it just happens

Look at it this way...it could have been worse! You could have for some reason been driving minnie to the hospital when the brake problem happened. Just imagine how freaked out Grandma Bob (lol that sounds funny!) would have been about you delivering Savanna while the car was shaking along side the highway! Now that would have been cause for some major stress! I'm sure things with your dad will go a lot smoother than it seems at the moment. The big picture always seems overwhelming. Just take it all one day at a time!

Grandpa Bob, when I was in school donkey years ago, there was an English composition title that was usually assigned to students, entitled: "A Day When Everything Went Wrong". If students today are still being asked to write such a composition, they can certainly borrow your account of your weekend's events and expand on them, and they will surely score good marks for an interesting composition. You certainly had an eventful weekend, but looking at it from another angle, these things make life exciting in a way and allow you to share them here for our amusement. Good thing you are calm when the situation calls for it, but of course being stuck out there on the expressway with cars coming by at high speed isn't exactly fun. My wife is also the panicky type and I am usually much calmer tackling situations, and I tell you that helps a lot. Can you imagine if both of us panic easily when faced with problems?

With me worrying about the Hurricane Ike I probably had less stress than you..lol..My poor Son had to stay behind since he's a fireman and he's been rescuing people and putting out fires all weekend since some idiots never evacuated like they were suppose to.. so that makes my Son risk his life for them but he finally got to go to sleep at 6 am this morning..they have food and electricity cause of the generator and ice..most won't for weeks. So I say from now you sneak out of the house to do your errands and don't let your wife know where you are..lol..if she gets freaked out at least you won't be in the car with her..lol..

Rosekitty- Just wanted to say that people like your son really make me proud! I don't understand what part of "Get out, there's a hurricane coming" that people can't seem to understand. Ugh! People like that annoy me! If I got told my area was going to get hit, no one would have to tell me twice.

My 4 boys are still way too young for me to deal with any of that yet but I know the day may come that I will have to send them off into harm's way and just trust that I raised them right...mother's are strong, we don't have a choice.

I hope by now everything is a bit calmer. It sounds like dad either had surgery on Friday or is due to have surgery on Monday. Good luck to all involved. I know how stressful it is taking care of loved ones.

I read this and had to laugh, your poor wife! I swear when i get upset or scared i can't say a word, i can actually barely breath! If i did carry on like that in the car i am not sure my husband wouldn't put me out on the roadside, or worse he might just leave me in the car and hitchhike home. I know i couldn't drive with somebody carrying on, you are more patient than i am.

Sounds like you really did have an exciting weekend. I'm glad your son in law was able to fix the brakes enough for you to get home. I know your wife was driving you crazy, but people do get hit working on cars. My cousin's first husbad got killed checking his car when it broke down. It was very sad. I hope your Dad's appointments go well.
