Love or be loved?

I just read an article about Richard Gere and Diane Lane. Both have been divorced and have remarried and are very happy with their current relationships. In the article, one of them said that it is more important to have somebody to love than to be loved.
What do you think, love or be loved? Or are both equally important?

Both ways for me are very beneficial. It's always good to be loved and love someone. Loving is the one best things in this world, if not the best. Let's just put in our minds that love is sacred and that we should never use it for our personal use or whatever negative causes we may have thought.

i think both are super important at the same rate.
i would love for that to happen to me too...remarry my ex-wife.
i still love her darn much.I dont know where she is right now but sooner or later i will see.
I need to love someone, give everything i can to make her happy and the same for me back.

Well for me I would want someone to return the love I give them, so I do think that both are important, I have met people in my life that I have loved that maby didnt return that love but I loved them no less and felt good about it.There are many instances in our lives when we can love someone with out getting that love returned,so yes both are important to me.

I think that loving someone is more important than being loved because you're dictating your own actions. If loving someone is more important to your partner, too, then you both win!

Well as for me, I believe it is more blessed to give than to be given so also is love. The law of natural attractions say that you vibrate an energy of what you release to yourself. When you really love someone endlessly, the person may or another may love you with equal or a more dimentional passion. Just my thought.

Being loved by someone you don't love is painful. Loving somebody who doesn't love you is even more painful. I think you need both.
