I have a three year old son and his safety is my primary concern. It is at this stage that kids tend to be more vulnerable to accidents that usually happen at home. Here are some of the things I have done to make our home child proof. 1. Rubber edge protector - lessens the impact if children accidentally bangs his head on the edge of the table. 2. Plastic Power Outlet Cover - prevents children from poking power outlets with metal wires or other metals. 3. Non-Slip Rubber Mat - in the bathroom, prevents slips especially when feet are wet. 4. Door Stopper - prevents hands of children from getting sandwiched when the door suddenly slams. 5. Keeping hazardous/flammable substances, sharps, blades, breakable items out of reach of children. 6. Properly labeling harmful chemicals and other substance and an antidote for them. I guess that's it. Have i missed something? Please tell me...

Your list is very good. One thing I also do is have a list of emergency numbers posted. Such as poison control and so on for you and for anyone who babysits for you. My son is two and we have also taken safety precautions for him. You just love them so much you want to do everything you can to protect them!

Well my kids are both teens now and though I started babysitting a 2 yr old yesterday I really didnt childproof like i did back when my kids were that age..HOWEVER I'm very aware of the little one and hang whatnot PLUS having been through it already I have a handle on it...Of coures I put up dangerous stuff (lighters, sissors, medicines etc etc) and I close certain doors in the house etc etc....Anyway, the only thing I can really think of is child gates....but I guess that also depends on the layout of your house as well..
