Imagine that!! All that feigned outrage and McCain knew Obama wasn't calling Palin a "pig" to begin with! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080915/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_lipstick;_ylt=ApW.oWMFrGKnZ9M.Aqd3kF9h24cA "Did he call her a pig?" McCain was asked. "No, but I know that he chooses his words carefully, and it was the wrong thing to say," he responded." McCain also avoided giving a straight answer to questions about the "Bridge to Nowhere". "The important thing is she's vetoed a half a billion dollars in earmark projects — far, far in excess of her predecessor and she's given money back to the taxpayers and she's cut their taxes, so I'm happy with her record," McCain said. In addition to her current requests, state budget documents show Alaska requested 52 earmarks worth $256 million for 2008. One more thing - Recently Karl Rove, former adviser to President Bush, said "some of McCain's ads were not truthful and both sides should cool the attacks". Gee, if Karl Rove is telling you your ads aren't truthful you must have really told some doozies...lol! Annie

It's funny how you think Rove is lieing always, unless he seems to say something you agree with, then he is telling the truth.

"I object to your word usage!" "I wasn't insulting anyone!" "I know that...you were..just using...my phrase." *pained* =) Frankly, only a few people actually believes Obama called Palin a pig. I feel better McCain didn't really think that, because it was obvious that it wasn't true. But all the same.

Haha, yes indeed! Though, I don't think it helps himself very much, alot of people are going on about his famous temper...and his feigning outrage for something...hmmm, heh. I dunno, who ever said he wasn't a good actor? =)

That's a good point. Although McCain loves to bash "Hollywood" and celebrities and put Obama and other Democrats down for catering to actors, he's made several cameo appearances in movies and basically has been as connected to Hollywood as many liberals. Annie

He really had no choice but to admit the truth: That Obama Really Did Not Say Palin was a Pig! His comments had outraged millions of voters and as such, would cause him problems with both his popularity and his chances of winning this election. I am glad to see that he admitted that Obama did not say that, though. He could have done so without saying that he was insinuating something negative about Palin....typical McCain, he managed to apologize and still get a shot in at the Dem's!

Also, McCain and other Republicans were calling for Obama to apologize to Palin but did I somehow miss the apology McCain issued to Hillary when he used the same "lipstick on a pig" joke referring to her health care policy? I didn't think so... Annie

Feigned outrage...McCain is getting good at that. Rove has probably helped him with that trick. All McCain has shown me so far is that he doesn't care about the truth. He lies and he knows he lies; it's his intention to try to fool as many as he can. So far, he's doing a pretty d*mned good job! Even when everyone knows he is lying, the right half doesn't care. It's like it's ok as long a republican is doing it.

Oh, Cheryl. I know a decent chunk of republicans who've voiced dissent on their supposed unification concerning McCain..thing is they're a minority and the others are trying to keep them silent. But Annie's right. The level of doublestandard and hypocrisy in general is amazing this year.

I agree, the double standard is absolutely astounding. We've had nearly eight years of an Administration who didn't feel they had to answer to the American people for anything and that they could get away with any lie they felt like telling at any time - and sadly they've been right, they have gotten away with it. Please, we can't let McCain/Palin get away with suckering enough of the people in again so we end up with what Joe Biden called "Bush 44". Annie

OMG as of the time of this post, here I am with reasonable people talking calmly, being sensible. How did I get here? Is this a dream? I am astounded, astonished! When was the last time you were astounded? Now I can go to sleep a happy camper. Thank you all. Anyone who changes the tenor of this thread after my post, boo hiss to you. LOL

I almost didn't even respond in here annie because quite frankly, the pig thing is nausiatingly tired for me, it was almost with in the hour it fisrt came out. but reading this one thing stood out for me, the following line: "In addition to her current requests, state budget documents show Alaska requested 52 earmarks worth $256 million for 2008." Would you please give us the name of the person who "requested" these earmarks?
