both one of each, and neither. deity is a polar energy. which can be interpreted as a female and male energy, but is also something much vaster than an issue like gender.

yep, it's not an issue on a gender. just a curious question. cuz from some of the materials i've read and some productions shown on tv, there are some sectors and other religions in some non-globalized countries that see God as a woman. tribal groups that still believe in deities and other earthy gods/goddesses. there is this one tribe (just a small group somewhere in africa) that see their ultimate creator as a woman because their population is outnumbered by women than men. but i agree, there is not a gender defining God. there is more to that. =) appreciate your comment. =)

it makes a great deal of sense to see deity as being primarily female, if you assign gender. it's creative force, and easier to characterise as a mother figure.

God is neither male nor female, otherwise you'd be comparing him to the creation thereby degrading him.

i agree, isme78. how we see God today is still in the form of a Man. we address God as Him. and i think nothing is wrong with it. but to those who are really in touch of their spiritual life, would know and feel how God is, in words man can't put. =) thanks for the comment. have a nice day

i like this thought. =) but if you were to choose, would you want God to be both or neither? just choose one.

god is neither mister nor mistress. god is mystery. we are a physical, mental and spiritual being. or we have physical, mental and spiritual "body", while god is totally spiritual. gender exists only in the physical and mental sphere. spiritually, all of us neither male nor female. so, yes, god is also neither male nor female.

yes, i agree. sprituality doesn't identify gender. same is true with angels. =)

God has no image and people who are lived good at their old ages have much power than others, so they have become the human living god..by passage of time and years their idols has been treated as god...god are mankind and making them male and female is too make all people to get entertain in worship...

Sometimes it helps to more personalize the divine, to think of it as a God or Goddess. Some people are pantheonistic and believe in many Gods and Goddesses. There should be duality in my opinion. A lady for every lord as it were.

multiple Gods is Polytheism. Pantheism is the beleif that deity is a force present in all things, as I think one poster expressed above. a bit like "the force" in Star Wars.

In my religion, Islam, God don't have gender. He is the One who created gender, but He Himself don't have any gender affiliation.
