I like to travel independently budget style. I have a collection of costume dolls from around the world so will always pay loads to get a nice doll. I liked in when I found a Finnish Supermarket in Riga, Latvia and I spent lots of money in it buying fancy foods. I like to stay in unusual accommodation so staying in a thatched tree house would mean more to me than in a luxury foreign owned fancy hotel with a huge swimming pool. I prefer to stay in locally owned guest houses that in a foreign owned hotel. That way my money helps that local economy and this feels great. I would be likely to spurge on an exciting activity like para Sailing.

It depends on the place I guess. There are places where I think it would be better to spend your money on luxury hotels since the country's popular food can be found in the streets which are way cheaper and yummier, and there are also countries where it's beter to spend on fine dining because their foods can be best tasted in the restos.

Hmmm... I'm not sure about that. I think I'd go for fine dining. Haha. my fiance and I love eating out and we would definitely want to try new food especially if it's from a really nice place.

Well if I have to choose between fine dining or luxurious hotels, I guess I'd go with splurging on fine dining. Also, I guess I will be able to say that I know some gourmet meals which are served only at specific places and are quite costly or not a budget meal.
I still remember my father-in-law telling his children that it's more important to feed a person while he could still eat; instead of giving him all the nutritious foods when he is already sick. Somehow, this has stuck in my mind and as I digest it, I know that this is true. It's still best to keep one's body healthy than trying to heal one's illness.
Personally, I think that when I do this, I still benefit from it. Unlike if I spend much on expensive hotels, I wouldn't get more hours of sleep just because of this.
But being my true self, I rarely do this because I'm quite a thrifty individual but if I definitely have to do it, I think I would if I'm with my family; because I also want them to experience it on some or rare occasions.

If it was me, I would not splurge. I always try to have friends who will talk me out of. This will definitely set me back. I have had enough overdrafts to last a lifetime. Count me out.
