Look at keyboard when typing?

Do you look at the keyboard when typing? I have recently noticed that many people think that you cannot be a fluent writer with the computer if you look at the keyboard when typing? I myself have not looked at the keyboard when typing since I was about 10 years old, but I still think that you can be a really "good" typer even though you look at the keyboard. Looking at the keyboard when typing does not reduce how wise you are, right?

hello darwaja, well that is a difficult task for a person like me to do. i spend a lot of time in front of the computer and also type a lot but despite those facts my speed and the ability of typing is very poor. i cannot type without looking at the keyboard. anyways have a good day and take care. bye.

Hey lol I need to look at the keyboard when I type,if I didnt I would be in a right mess lol the words would be well dyslexic ,but ive tried so many times to type without looking at the keys only to find that what I have written doesnt make any sense, maybe if I practised a little more then it would eventually fall into place

No, I don't look at my keyboard when I'm typing. I used to, but with time it just developed and I didn't even notice it. The only thing that makes it easier for me to write without looking at my keyboard is the fact that the words and letters I type show up on the screen. Now, I can type without looking at the screen but I tend to make some small grammatical mistakes.

Well when I was in grade school I used to look at the keyboard. I think it just takes practice every finger will go to the right buttons then it becomes reflex. The wonders of the mind. Yes looking at the keyboard doesnt lessen your knowledge it just enhances your reflex.

I don't really look at the keyboard to help me type because I can't really see much when my fingers are going, so I cna't really keep track when I watch, so if I do look it's just to kind of amuse myself with the way I type and the way my fingers move. I don't really need to though, because I learned in school how to type without looking. It really does help save time to learn, but if it works for you, that's fine.

I don't think it determines how wise you are if you look at the keyboard or not. But it's more about speed and accuracy. (If you get it right, then you're good.) Looking at your keyboard does slow your progress down a bit though. I learnt typing without looking at the keyboard in a Typing class when I was in high school and at first the teacher would let us look at our keyboard and familiarize ourselves with the keys. But graudually throughout the semester, he made us use paper cardboard thing to cover the keyboard and practice. By the end of the semester, most of us were getting good at typing without looking. Once you've got the accurary part going, you can improve your speed overtime. With me, I can type faster when I'm typing from my thoughts but if I'm trying to get a quote or refer to my hand-written draft, I would type slower. (That's something I still need to improve on.)

I look at the keyboard sometimes and sometimes I dont. I am practciced enough at typing now that I do not need to look at it but it is kind of force of habit. I usually look more at the screen than i do the keyboard because I want to make sure I am not making a mistake. Right now i am watching TV so i am not looking at keyboard or screen at all.
