I wanted to let you all know that I did get the pup.
She is a 2 month old fawn great dane that is a sweet gal.
She seems to be pretty much house broke..just the chewing on stuff we are
working on now.
I loaded a pic of her sleeping on my bed. Isn't she a doll?

Congratulations ma! She is wonderful! And will make a wonderful companion, have you chosen a name for her yet? I shall look forward to hearing all about her, how she settles in and her adventures! You know I love hearing all about Gissi and with another pup on the street, Wolfie will have a new friend! Sometimes the love of an animal makes a lot of difference in our lives and I bet you will utterly and totally spoil her x

She sounds like a perfect pet for you, Raydene. I cannot wait to see the pictures. I guess all puppies are chewers. She will be a wonderful companion. When she gets older she can be your protector, too.

Hi Raydene, Oh I am so pleased for you, that is why you having been posting as much, bit like me too busy with my puppy, hard work eh! I will take a look at the pic in a minute. So far Ziggy has been quite good about chewing but has to be watched at all times as he would if given the chance LOL. He is pretty much house trained during the day where he can come and go from the garden but still not too good at night still paper training on that one. What did you call her? Ellie :D

Raydene, she is just perfect for you! She is gorgeous - and it looks like she likes the comfort of your bed! I love the name you have chosen for her - Daisy" - she suits it already! I'm sure Daisy will turn out to be a wonderful companion for you, and I hope you will post more pics of her as she grows.

hey I am so happy. I want to hug the little puppy. I do have a puppy but male, it was given as a birthday gift for me. My dog and the puppy got a long better. It seems every animal inside the house (because I do have cats!) accepted the puppy as part of the family. She is definitely a doll and an Angel Raydene, like you.

You are soooo lucky, I have always wanted a Great Dane! I went the other direction with Mini Dachshunds! (LOL) Your baby is probably 5 times larger than my two Doxies...Monica is 10.5 lbs and Little Bit is 9.5 pounds.
About the chewing, she is obviously cutting teeth. We always provided our dogs with beef knuckle bones (the butchers now call them soup bones). we removed the meat and fat and let the dogs have a ball with them. Since the bones aren't cooked they don't splinter and they have flavor which keeps the dogs interest. Don't give her old shoes etc as it will entice her to steal your shoes later (Kitty, my late Rottie was great at stealing shoes. She didn't chew them but it was frustrating trying to find a matching pair without too much dog slobber in them! LOL) Also, kongs are great for them too. Especially if you put a treat or something they really like in the hole. It will keep them busy for hours.
Hug your new baby for me, one day I will have a Great Dane, and will drive a VW beetle just so that the dog can hang its head out the window. (We saw one with two Saint Bernards in the back seat, each had a head out the window on opposite sides of the car, it was too funny!)

Aahh - what sweetie. Get her real bones to chew (we get them at the IGA). Our big boy Gus always has a big bone to chew on and he has never chewed on anything else in the house or back yard. He carries the bones with him - they can be 'grungy' but it is better than torturing the puppy. Gus is two now and he still gets bones. We don't give any of our dogs 'fake stuff' - even the chihuahua gets REAL bones. Oh they get sooo excited. I hope you enjoy your Daisy - Great Danes are wonderful!
