I will be among the unemployed in January. When I got to work Monday night, I was told by other employees that corporate office was making a visit to the company and was meeting with human resource, the company I work for has been struggling for the past 2-3 years business was bad the quality of work was bad. Well I got a call around 10 am this morning from one of my co-workers telling me that the meeting was over and that they decided to close the plant down in December of this year. This is the second time this has happened to me. I worked for the other company for 24 years and they closed it down, this one I worked for 9 years and they are closing it down. That seems to be happening a lot in this area. I pray that I will be able to find me something until I am able or old enough to retire.

chevee I am so sorry to hear your plant will close in January this is a horrible time to be without wo rk,but you do have some time yet to find another job. my son was laid off a month ago and has not yet got another job. this leaves us in a terrible situation as we cou ld not pay this months rent hence we got a three day notice. no money some help from friends, its a bad situation and hope you can avoid it. you see I m retired,82, handicapped, no job so my sons job is vital to both of us. good luck and get that job before your co. closes. God bless.

Hi Chevee,
ohhh...that is sad but that is reality! I know with your experience, it will not be hard to find a job at least you are given early information and before that day will come, you can find another good place to work with!

hi chevee!!
sorry to hear that you'll be losing your job as you reach this coming month of January. i guess you better look for another work as soon as possible. it is maybe due to some economic crisis that is happening in this world that has caused them to close down their business.
you'll surely find your own work. just keep on trying. don't give up. you can do it.
take care and God bless!

Hey mate try to do your research and try to find an alternative job. If possible before December, before you get sacked. I wish you luck in your quest. Hopefully you will be able to keep us updated about your job situation.

Oh man! That really sucks!! My heart goes out to you and your family. Since you were given a little bit of time to figure things out, it might be wise to start looking around for another job before this job ends. I wish you all the luck in the world for you're going to need every bit of it!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, so much of that going around and I don't think anyone is immune anymore.
As bad as it may seem, at least you have a few months to tighten your belt and save as much as you can while looking for other employment. Not everyone gets that opportunity, so make good use of the time that you have.

i just found this discussion !
i'm so very sorry.
are they offering an outplacement for the workers? this will help
as well as unemployment. you get an additional 13 weeks per bush, however, i
don't know if that will stand for 2009 claims or not.
it's worth checking into it.
i had this happen, too. 18 years in a hospital and middle management got
reconfigured.
i'll begin chanting: chevee will be fine in 2009 !
