My fiance and I are going to be getting married next year in the month of September. To be honest, on his grandmother's birthday no doubt. We hadn't intended it to be that way but our own anniversary would have been an inconvenience to everyone and the day before that would be an inconvenience to the pastor, church goers and simply impossible if we wanted to have it in the church. So, we bumped it up. Besides bumping the wedding up, we are also going to be doing a lot of the things DIY. Save for the invitations and clothing, but even that will be personalized. We are trying to aim for as cheap as possible, and the DIY look is not only classy but something I think my fiance, myself and all those involved with the prep will remember and cherish. I am open for recommendations, ideas, pictures, or stories about your own wedding. If anyone has any patterns of any kind, crochet, knit, sew, cross stitch I'd love to see them. The cake will be made by one of us, either myself, fiance, or fiance's mom... or somewhere in between. It will be in the shape of a horseshoe. Anyone, any ideas. Have you had a throw it together, DIY weddding? Have you ever attended one? Have you ever helped make things for the wedding?

Yes I know baby the wedding is set for next September, and it is kind of funny that it will be on my grandmothers birthday, and we did not intend for it to be that way, we just can not do it on our two year anniversary because it would be an inconvenience to everyone, and I know there are a lot of things for the wedding that are going to be DIY,except for the invitations and clothing,,and I know we will make sure they are personalized, and I know we are aiming for as cheap as possible, but we are still going to make sure it is a day that everyone remembers and cherishes, and since we are going to make the cake ourselves it will save us a money, and be even more special, then if we got a bakery to do it,and it will also go more with our western theme if we it is a DIY wedding,I love you.

Well you know there are a lot of other changes like the invitations are going to be made, I am sure that we'll think of something else to be made, well maybe not as we've pretty much got everything as a "to do ourselves" project. I think that it will save us a lot of money and be fun for us to do, something that will help the stress of wedding planning. Although I am sure things are going to be more stressful then we think. I am glad we are figuring out the clothing though, and I know we've got pretty much everything down. I appreciate the response baby and I love you too.

Hi There
We're getting married in November next year, we're doing quite a bit DIY to save on costs as we're on a tight budget. We've chosen a Monday partly because of convenience for a lot of our friends but also because the venue will give a discount for it. I'm also making my own jewellery and invitations. I'm also using Autumn as a theme and we're having seasonal decorations. We'll be using Pheasant feathers which my partner has a huge supply of at work (he's a chef) and also conkers and acorns as we can collect them for free. We're making our own cake too - I love the horseshoe idea although I think we'll go for a 3-tier one but without the pillars. Have you chosen your reception venue yet? or your dress?

ebay and Wal-mart are your friends. Especially since Wal-mart released their Martha Stuart weddings collection. I DIY'ed a bunch of stuff, but my wedding exploded and nothing got used or some of it didn't even get finished. What did work out was that I handmade all my reception decorations. The centerpieces, sweetheart table, guestbook table, cake table. What I didn't use or finish were my ceremony programs, welcome bags(goodies for out of town guests), guest favors.
What's your theme, colours, location?
