Do You Use Coupons?

Some of my friends say they use coupons and save a lot of money when they go grocery shopping. I've used them in the past but I guess I don't use enough of them to justify saving any money. I use one once in a while like for toothpaste or shampoo or something but I hardly ever use them on food. I have found that usually the store brand is usually cheaper than using a coupon for a name brand. I have heard stories of women saving hundreds of dollars a week on their grocery bill by using coupons. Maybe I just don't get the whole concept of using them cause I just can't see where they save a whole lot of money. So was wondering if any of you use them and if you do, do you save money? If so, how??? If not, why not? And could someone please explain how these people save "hundreds" of dollars by using them? I sure wish I knew their secret.. LOL..

I think they are probably pretty good if you have a big family and lots of storage space, but I personally dont need like three boxes of cereal at once or a twenty pack of toliet paper. I am the only one here about half of the time and dont need massive quantities of stuff. Like you said in most cases the store brand is cheaper and if you only need a small quantity I dont think coupons are going to help you out. I use them once in awhile but not that often.

Yep, you sound like me. If I find one for something I really need and it looks like I might save a dollar, I'll use it. Otherwise, I don't bother too much.

I would love to go shop for free also! Those ladies have it all worked down to a science! I would love for someone to Teach me how to go shopping and get a huge grocery cart full of food and houshold supplies and only spend a few bucks. I always say that I like to save money. but forget the coupons at home..* Sigh *

I have started using cupons over the summer, I mostly just use the ones I get in the mail. I notice when I look at the recipt what I paid and above that is what I should have paid. It is always fun to compare the two and see how much I really saved.

Yes, I agree. It is fun to see how much was saved. If I used them more, I probably would have more of a savings with them.

I use coupons every now and then. My dad will get tons of free stuff using coupons. I guess you just need to clip them, and keep them until you see a really good deal you can use them with. I think the most I've saved using coupons is close to $30. The store brand is usually cheaper, but there are some exceptions. I recommend trying coupons one week/month and seeing what you think. If you do your homework, you can save a good amount of money.

Good idea. I'm just not that organized when it comes to coupons. I cut them out but forget them when I go to the store. I'm sure people could save lots of money with them if they knew how to use them right.

I am a coupon addict. I have an addiction, and my family knows it. I use them whenever I can. I eat at places that offer coupons, I have many bottles of shampoo/conditioner that were free since I used coupons.
