Decided to get gas early this afternoon. Stopped at the regular station where we do business. I noticed when I pulled in the prices were removed from the street sign. Then noticed several of the pumps were covered with a yellow cover which means they can't be used. Then each pump had a hand written sign saying, "we are out of unleaded gas." I can only assume this means there is going to be another increase in gas and everything will be up and running later. President Bush wants us to use our cell phones to take pictures of any gouging. I can't prove this is gouging and I don't have a computer program which allows me to download any photos from my phone to the computer. Didn't have my digital with me. Would you be irritated if you went out of your way to stop and unleaded gas was unavailable? I am almost certain the prices will be way above what they were much earlier when I drove by.

One station here temporarily ran out of unleaded, but sold the premium for the same price as the unleaded until the unleaded was refilled. That was only for a day or two. Which was great for people in that area, but better for people who normally have to buy premium.

Because of the hurricanes in the Texas gulf the supply has been disrupted to the mid west. They always even use that as an excuse here in California to raise prices. And then with OPEC cutting production by 500,000 barrels you can see that production is down. But surprisingly here the price has not gone up and in fact yesterday the price dropped yesterday. So I think this is a matter of the gas station just having not received its supply and not a matter of deliberate attempt to raise prices.

I have drove up to gas station with no gas on the unleaded pump, but the two times it happen I had enough gas to drive to another station. This gas situation is just dreadful. I fell down and injured my leg so the increase in the last couple of days have not affected me since I can't drive. I am sure they increase the unleaded later when they restock.

Contact your representatives. We have one that complained we were 30 cents higher up here than people a little ways away from us. He promised to look into it and he said it to our newspaper. Our prices have steadily gone down since then. There was one gas station that was 20cents more than the rest up here, he's finally about the same as the rest, price came down after that press conference the very next day. Promises of fines and possible inprisonment do wonders. So whoever you voted for that's in, call them and complain or write a letter and complain. We were over 4 dollars and the rest of the state was under, a representative made a statement to the press that he was launching an investigation. We're at $3.69 now. Much better than over 4 bucks. Even the jerk who was gouging isn't at $3.89, he's at $3.69. A few stations are more or less, but that is now around the average. But when we were $4.04 and that cornball had $4.24, no one was stopping at his station that I could see. Funny how that press anouncement has had prices go down almost continuosly, despite news reports of higher oil barrel prices. It's because we have no other way to get to work and we have sub-zero winters so we need a variety of heat sources in each house most of the time. Like I have oil, electric, and wood. When it hits sub-zero with 30 or more mile per hour winds, often whatever your main heat source is, it can't keep up, so you need a secondary and if one of them quits, like the oil furnace or the electric goes out, you may need a third. They know we don't have decent mass transit for work, only for the poor to go shopping and if lucky maybe they can schedule and make a drs' appointment. They say it's because we live farther out, but 30 cents more? Just threatening has brought prices down, it's amazing.

Carol u could well be right there, they are always up to something, especially wit the fuel prices, they have rocketed here, and it so shocking the way in which the prices fluctuate, some filling stations are much cheaper than others, and once you get onto the motoways, where access is so easy for the fuel tankers, then the fuel hits record highs,it makes no sense at all.

I get really irritated about gas prices. I recentely purchased a new car and I feel like I made a huge mistake when it comes to the amount of gas it uses.I used to drive a small honda civic which back in the day when I drove it regulary used to cost a bout $25 to fill and would last about 2 weeks..now the same car uses about $45 which is still not bad compared to my $100 gas guzzling bmw..I try to avoid using my new car because it is just TOO much to fill it up and now I feel stupid for having purchased it.But I do love it lol..And the worst part is I cant even use the cheap gas..I have to use the highest quality gas..and the prices keep rising and falling rising and falling..its so irritating.

I drive an suv so a tank of gas will last me atleast 2 weeks. I didn't like the way things were handled earlier. I know what's going on and it really got on my last nerve. We are still under $4.00 per gallon which almost seems good in comparison to the gas prices in Illinois. Thanks for responding.
