So many people talk about working from home and want to know more about it. I would like to provide some resource to all of you fellow mylotters so that you may have a chance to find something you might be looking for. Here are some tips:
1. NEVER pay anyone to work for them. If you are asked to make any kind of "investment" most of the time this is a sure fire warning that it could be a scam.
2. Always research any company before giving personal information. Search for fraud or scams that may be associated with them. A good resource to check on a company is to look for them on the Better Business Bureaus website.
3. Ask about the companies requirements for telecommuters, for example, computers and equipment. Check for pay rates and benefits as well. Also, you may want to inquire if the position would be as independent contractor, or if you would be an employee. Employee's will not have to file a 1099 at the end of the year because the taxes will already be with held from their checks. Independent contractors will have to file their taxes using a 1099 to account for the money that was not taken out of their paychecks to cover taxes.
4. Look into work at home support forums to find out others experiences with the company. A good one would be WorkatHomeMafia.com
Below are some great work at home resources. I hope that this might help others who are interested in working at home.
Great site that offers daily work at home leads and companies that offer work at home opportunities:

Here is another great site for work at home companies:

Good site with a lot of miscellaneous information as well:

(None of these are referral links. None of these links will ask you for any money either.)
Good luck!

Even though they are not referral links and I know you are not trying to make money from these links are they allowed on this site?
I was a fool and invested in a work at home program but I have now asked for a refund and hopefully they will pay me back soon.
I am looking to begin working as a freelance writer, do you know of any site I could start with?

I really only know of a couple of freelance sites:
http://www.odesk.com/w/
http://www.pcmoneymaker.net/category/paid-to-write/
I think these links are okay as long as it is not referral or affiliate based. If not I hope some one will tell me other wise. I read the rules and I do know that it is against them to post affiliate/referral links. So hopefully these are fine. I am not making money of them, or am I trying to. These are just so others can use the information.

I have been looking for this info for forever now! I appreciate all of this. I was working for a company that paid me to sew things. I did well. I was supposed to make $350 for a lot of 12 items sewed. They told me that I would have to take out my own taxes, and there was no limit. My first check was $755. I had done 7 lots. Now do the math 7 lots X $350 = $2,450. I called the 800 number they had and the woman said that the fine print said that if I made over the "$350 a week in extra earnings from the 9-5 grind of daily work" I would be taxed. I finished out with them, got my money back that they taxed me on, only after I threatened to call the better business bureau. I loved doing the crafting type work, but if I have to pay them to get paid, I am done. The bad thing was, I only got an instruction manual, and nothing on the amounts I could make. I told my tax people about the money and they got it back for me, plus some. Thank you again.
