Right and Wrong? How do you decide?

I recently read a discussion where someone was asking if right and wrong are the same as good and evil.
It got me to thinking about the decisions we make everyday about different things. A lot of times it is a bit complicated when we have to decide what to do in a given situation. Say you see somebody do something at work that could get them fired. If you do nothing, no one will be hurt. If you turn them in, they get fired. So, what do you do? Is it right to get someone fired? Is it right to lie so that they won't get fired? Or do you just do nothing and stay out of it?

Go with your gut. Personally, I don't advocate squealing. If you're friends with the person, it wouldn't hurt to vouch for him/her. If you don't know him/her or you don't like him/her just stay out of it.

Personally, I would stay out of it. I feel very strongly that costing someone their job is wrong unless absolutely necessary. And I feel it is only absolutely necessary, if for them to continue their employment would needlessly cost other people their jobs or safety. For instance, if someone is frequently intoxicated in a dangerous work environment.
I frequently see people who seem to be looking to get anybody fired or disciplined at work. I don't understand it. I can not see how someone could place such little value on something that affects every aspect of someone's life, including their family.

Because I believe that right or wrong is different with good and bad, I would say that in that situation, the right thing to do is to report it. Righteousness is the condition where you do something according to the rule based on our moral view and have a good cause. The good thing to do is not to report, because as a good person I would see that making someone get fired would suffer the person, and the person's family. The good and the right are usually came along together but there's some times where the good and the righteousness is not in the same way. The good would say that killing someone is bad, but the right would say it is okay to execute the terrorist so that would be peace on earth. That's for the extreme example
