Dangerous form of water

Has any body faced the water in its dangerous form. Water which is considered to be life, can take lives , has any body felt it ever ?
I have felt it 3 years back during Mumbai floods. Walked for around 1-2 hours in waist height water and was extremely petrified. The moment water reached chest, I decided to take shelter in nearby shop.. How frightening it was ...

I've never experienced a flood before but water surly can be dangerous when it comes to floods or even water ways... I remember jumping off a bended coconut tree alongst the beach and although the water wastn't 2 or 3 metres deep i sustained a deep cut to my side belly because of the waves strong current.
I also remember a lady a couple of years ago drowned in a flooded area in the city after continuous rains. The water was about waist high but becuase of the strong current she wasn't able to keep her feet up and drown...
