I used to think that a blog is just some sort of an online diary where you can rant and rave about anything and everything under the sun. I thought that some people just do this blog thing for the fun of having other people read about through their thoughts and adventures. (Toink!) And now I keep hearing people earning good money by just blogging.
So what do you guys blog about?
Do you do it for fun or do you do it for the money?

Five years ago, when blogging went boom on the net, I was one of those who, like you, updates their blogs on a daily basis. Just writing away my thoughts, emotions, and experiences about my every day life. Then came now. Its different. Obviously, the very personal blog sites was turned into a medium where online businesses were promoted. Blog sites are very money earning oriented now. It lost its main function: to weB-LOG.
Anyways, why not join them. You can keep one for your personal thoughts and one for earning money online.

I am very passionate about my blog topics and I enjoy what I am blogging about. This is what I call fun. Earning money is also one reason but let it come it naturally.
I believe that blogging is just like any career that if you are passionate about it, you can do better and if you do better, you will earn more.

Like many others i thought i can make good money with a blog , but i was wrong , i don't have a good writing talent and english is not my primary language . I read a lot about this subject , to make money with this kind a work you need to have a lot of patience , promote the blog , select key topics to write about , yes some people make tons of money doing this as a full time job.

I don't write blogs for money. I like to write blogs because I love writing in itself. I like to post photos and my verses on my blog, so I can't write for money.

well, I have some blogs with a few articles but I started them because I wanted to earn some extra little money, I don't know how many people is doing really good with blogs, I was listening to a post cast a few days ago and they said that just a very few blogger are making a living of it, my blogs are giving my me few money, a few cents, I really wish I would found the way to earn at lest a little amount every month, and yes of course I am blogging for money because why other reason would someone want to waste many time blogging, well I know there is people that blog for fun, I know someone that blog just for fun, but anyway I think I wouldn't be blogging if I don't get at lest a little revenue from it.

I blog strictly for pleasure. I don't want or need another pressure filled thing to do. When I blog, it's to vent, rant, talk about the day or my issues, and just get it all out. It's an online journal.
I have had a blog or online journal for many years. Been to Live Journal, WordPress, Greatest Journal, Blurty, My Diary, Blogger, and others.
I now stay at Blurty and write from my desktop and post remotely. It really helps me to wind down and to put down my thoughts. I keep it public unless there is something very private in the post then I will close it off.
I may try my hand at paid blogging but it takes a lot to maintain a blog and I simply don't want or need any more pressure.
To those making money though, I say more power to them!

I have been blogging for years long before I came to monetize it. It is actually my online diary where I housed all my feelings an anything I need to write in there. I am actually having fun while blogging. However, things have changed. I came to also appreciate earning through blogging. I do it both for fun and for money now and somehow it brings me any good. :)

Well from the two given, I blog more on fun. But there is much more than fun and money. I also blog to help others learn and also try to bring my image out as well as my online business. Really alot of reasons why I blog and money isn't really much in the mix.

I have a personal blog using blogspot, i use it as an online diary and updates it about once every 2 nights or so.
Placed some adds here and there, thinking of making a lil out of it, but still stick to the writting because it is fun!
People are making good money because they are being sponsored, they become famous because of certain post and there you go.. I don't personally aim for that.

I didn't even know that you could get paid for writing blogs, hehe. I thought people just made blogs for fun. I'd like to start blogging if I could get paid for it, anyone know where I can make a blog that can get me paid? It's also a good way to express your feelings and emotions, so that's another reason I'd like to start. :D

I didn't quite understand the world of blogging and thought the samething. Once I got a little more educated, I did start a blog with the intent of it being therapeutic and to make money.
It turned out to just be therapeutic! I want to start another blog that is of interest to me and can be of interest to others, which will give me the opportunity to make some money!

Hi there!
Well nowadays everybody wants to earn money and so I think whatever opportunity that would come in order to earn extra one would try it out and see their luck. Like me, I am never so much interested in the net. I don't even have an email until last February when I had to stop working. I decided to try my luck of finding a job as an online typist instead I found mylot and all other earning activities.
What we do here in mylot can also be considered blogging according to my sister-in-law who is a very good blogger. According to her mylot is also a blogging site but there is online interaction unlike other blogspots where people just visits and leave comments. You can also interact but not like what we do here.
So yes, I blog for money but not just money alone. I am also after the fun and experience. In fact, I am trying to improve my blogging. I write articles for another site and I still want to join other sites to broaden my knowldege and meet new people in the net.
Ciao!

Sure blogging is a whole lot of fun. Not to mention the platform it provides to share your views and the improvement in one's writing skills. Money may be a factor involved nowadays in attracting people towards blogging but i don't think you can earn if u blog just for the sake of money. I mean u get money only when people see your blog and visit it more often. And that happens only when the stuff in your blog is of some quality. I mean nobody would visit your blog if u write some trash about "how to sharpen a pencil?' or "how to prepare milk shake?"
I mean good blogging is a prerequisite if u want to earn money thru ur blog.. just churning out a number of posts just for the sake of getting more viewers won't work. Initialy it may work in attracting a few people looking but eventually it is the quality of the blog which draws people back and in turn guarantees you income. If you are a good blogger then there's no wrong in trying to earn a few bucks through it. But turning to blogging just for the sake of money won't work.
