I got to thinking, what would work really hard to save in a power outage?

My power was out for 4 days and I spent money on ice, mainly to save a couple of things that are pretty silly now that I think of it. I worked hard to save:
The cheese I wrap my dog's pills in
The black raspberries I bought for my mom that were $9 a quart
My coffee creamer that I bought just the day before we lost power
My first tomato that I picked off my vine in my first gardening attempt
The Asiago cheese spread that I got on sale for $2, regularly $5!
The chicken broth I'd make the day before for my dogs' food
Cottage cheese at $3.42, chipped beef that was on sale
Orange Juice I got on sale for $1.99 gallon
All that work and $12 worth of ice went into saving these silly things. But I got most of them on sale or they were very expensive. The sale items I hung onto because I got such a deal, the raspberries were so pricey that I was determined not to lose them! I gave half of them away because there was no room in the cooler and I couldn't bear to see them wasted. In doing so, at least I got to meet my neighbor across the street!
Do you go to great lengths to save silly things like this? It's ridiculous now that I think about it. But I saved them, haha!!

It wasn't that bad, we camped a lot when I was little so living pioneer-style isn't a hardship for me. I just can't believe I went to such lengths to save silly stuff like that! Thanks for the reply-I missed all my friends here those 4 days!

Yes, I have a whole garage of stuff like that - well not persible items. But stuff I got on sale and I don't want to get rid of it because I bought it on sale. I might use it some day! Yes, I am a pack rat. I have been trying to curb that tendency of mine. I have have gotten better. And I have been slowly going through stuff getting rid of things I haven't used or don't need.
I can understand saving the cheese for your dog, your dog needs to have his medicine. I would be saving those raspberries too, or at least eat them. I know that Asiago cheese spread I would "save" by eating it - I love that stuff.

LOL! Yes, that cheese spread is yummy!
I used to be a packrat till I was divorced and had to move a few times--now I'm pretty possession-free. It takes a LOT of self-discipline!
