I've diagnosed with gall stones and it's been strongly recommended that I have the gall bladder removed. Does anyone have experiences to share about the pros and cons of the surgery?

I have a relative who was just recently diagnosed and she was also advised to have the organ removed. The doctor told her that after the surgery she may have to keep a close watch on her eating habits especially oily foods. The body will have to adjust because of the missing organ, she may experience frequent bowel movements like what happens if she's taking xenical.
She hasn't gone through with the surgery yet. She feels that she isn't ready yet, nervous. For now, she's drinking lots of organic apple juice.

my friend just had hers out last week using a "scoptic" method that requires only a few tiny incisions. She had the surgery in the morning and went home that afternoon. She's recovering nicely. She too had stones.
