Let us review Group A matches played on the opening night of Champions League 2008-2009.........
CRF Cluj grabbed the headlines on the opening night of Champions League group stage as they stunned AS Roma 2-1....... Cluj sit in a lowly seventh place in their Romanian Liga-1 but their debut in Europe's Premier Club Competition could not have been better as they came from behind to stun Luciano Spalleti's troops in the Group A clash..... Christian Panucci fired the Romans ahead after 17 minutes but CRF Cluj refused to succumb to the expected defeat and levelled through Juan Culio 10 minutes later before the Argentinian midfielder volleyed home a brilliant winner in the second half.......
Else-where, headers from Frank Lampard and Joe Cole set Chelsea FC on their way as they crushed the French club Bordeaux 4-0 to earn manager Luiz Felipe Scolari his first Champions league win...... Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka added late goals to give a fair reflection to the scoreline.

Being Romanian, even if my favorite team is Steaua Bucharest, I must say I was extremely happy to see CFR Cluj winning against Roma last night!
Nobody was expecting such a good result from them. When the group was drawn, most of us predicted CFR will hardly make one point!
Of course that it's a long way to qualifying, and nobody has illusions that CFR will finish among the first two teams of the group. Even their objective is to manage getting the third place, which will allow them to play in the UEFA Cup.
