Did you ever catch a glaring error when watching a movie?

I was watching Lethal Weapon the other night for the 50th time it seems when I noticed that they had made a mistake. In one part of the movie, Mel Gibson's character is held hostage in an old warehouse and is being tortured. He is barefoot in there.
Next, he manages to escape and is running down the street and...he has sneakers on. He didn't have sneakers on when he went INTO the warehouse let alone when he escaped. Oops. I laughed because I never really noticed that before and I usually pick up all kinds of mistakes in movies.
Have you ever been watching a movie and saw an obvious error or glitch? Like in Dirty Dancing when Baby is getting ready for the last night at the clubhouse and she is putting on stockings...but when Johnny busts in and they dance, she has on full pantyhose because her dress flies up and you can see she doesn't have the stockings she put on in her room before going there on. And when Johnny is dancing alone and he stands up and his pants are all dirty on the knees but when we see him again seconds later, his pants are totally clean.
ANYWAY, what mistakes have you caught (not just read about) in movies? I'd love to know how observant you all are. :)

I haven't exactly noticed too many obvious mistakes, however, I have occasionally caught it where it looked like a scene got cut too prematurely to cover one up.
One common error is when a character is only referred by his last name, like Columbo. With Columbo, I don't know if any of the other actors or actresses mistakenly called him "Pete" or "Peter," the actor's first name. So - when you watch that show & it seems that the first name of the character happens to be the first name of the actor, they probably went with it instead of re-shooting & having an out-take for the bloopers collection. They COULD keep the camera going after the director yells, "CUT!" so that they can add it to a possible future episode of Bloopers & Practical Jokes.

Oopsie - I hit the SEND button too prematurely.
I intended to add so we can see the looks on people's faces when the mistake gets brought up.

With Columbo, I don't think anyone made the mistake yet, so the character still doesn't have a first name.
However, in the original Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry intended this one character named Mitchel (played by Gary Lockhart) to be just "Commander Mitchel." However Bill Shatner could not have picked a better time to refer to him as the actor's first name. Instead of redoing it, they went along & called him "Commander Gary Mitchel."
I guess with those DVD's where they put the cut scenes back in, you probably end up finding that QUITE a few of those characters who only had last names end up also with the first name of the actor.

Sometimes the DVDs I buy or rent have the outtakes and a lot of times actors forget and call other actors by their real names or forget the character's name. I think that is hilarious. I never realized Colombo had a first name! But yes, I have noticed some characters have the same first namne as the real actor's name. Interesting.

There are many movies with mistakes, especially ones from the 1980's! There is a Schwarzenegger movie where in one scene the car is all damaged on one side yet when they drive away it is suddenly like brand new again! For the life of me I can't remember the name of the movie? Here are some other examples from Titanic as most people know this one:
- When Jack and Rose are going down with the ship, there is a man holding onto the flagpole. The man's life jacket disappears and reappears.
- In the scene where Jack comes to the first class door for the first time in his tux you can see a cameraman in the glass door before he enters.
- When Rose is trying to rescue Jack she spies a fire axe. Smashing all the glass out from the holder she grabs the axe and turns round. The next camera shot shows Rose standing in front of the case with almost all of its glass intact.
- After being shot at by Cal, Rose and Jack race down the hallways outrunning the rising water. Rose is wearing white sneakers, yet she is seen two minutes later wearing period shoes when Jack retrieves the gate key that the crewman dropped beneath the rising water.
And this is just SOME of them! I am amazed how people pick all this stuff up!

Haha, I saw Commando. Low budget it seems like. I NEVER saw Titanic. Can you believe that? Everyone has but me. Seems like a big budget movie like that would have better editors. That's a load of mistakes!

Haha my husband would catch stuff like that for sure. That's one of him and his friends hobbies when they watch a movie! I do catch stuff like that sometimes, can't think of any examples, but it really shows how they don't film a movie in order b/c they make these mistakes.
Do you ever read IMDB's trivia and goofs? I like to read those after a movie then go back and see them :)

Now and then I will read IMDB. Funny stuff. There is a whole site devoted the zillions of mistakes in the Wizard of Oz and other classics. Crazy stuff!

I just watched 30 days of night the other day on cable. I noticed that the very same vampire he threw into the shredder was still alive at the end of the film when he fought the boss, wearing different clothes, maybe it was suppose to be his twin brother ...lol

yeah I've seen many errors in movies. Here in Canada years ago we had a movie talk show, and it had a segment where you could send in continuity errors and if they picked yours you got a prize package sent to you. My best friend found one in The Net. In the scene Sandra Bullock is sitting at a table with a guy talking and she has sunglasses on, then all of a sudden she doesn't. Well anyways because of that show my friend and I would be on the look out for them, and we found many, that is the only one I can think of at the moment though.

That is fun. I could win a prize because I notice the littlest mistakes. I don't look for them but they just seem to stand out to me.

In Enchanted, in a scene where they're in a restaurant, Patrick Dempsey's hairstyle changed after the camera changed focus.
In The Strangers, there was a part where Liv Tyler was crawling on the ground. The bandages on her left hand was missing when it should be there.

Ha! I can't imagine how procucers and editors of expensive movies let those things slip. It really bugs me because I somehow tend to catch more than my fair share of silly mistakes.
