I used to sell rubber stamps on ebay, and, you're right, it's very hard work. I was working full time at the time, and I was working so many hours a day and got so exhausted that I'd fall asleep sitting in front of the computer. In the end I had very little profit to show.
People buy on ebay to get bargains, so they don't want to pay full price. With low ticket items, like rubber stamps, you make very little profit off of each item, so you have to list hundreds of items which takes an unbelieveable amount of time. You have to pay ebay fees even if you don't sell an item. If you do sell it, you have to give them a percent. If you use paypal, you have to pay them. I used a listing service, and that cost me as well. So net profit is low.
With most rubber stamp companies you aren't allowed to only buy 1 of each stamp; you have to buy two. So if you can't sell a particular stamp you get stuck with two of them that you paid for which decreases profits even more.
I met a lot of nice people selling on ebay, but I also ran into my share of nutcases. One woman told me she couldn't respond to my e-mails because she'd had to lock her computer in the closet for security reasons. She was probably the craziest one I had.
In the end, I gave it up. I still have lots of leftover stamps that I may decide to list. However, I would never advise anyone to try and make a living selling on ebay. No matter what the hype is about people earning $5000 a month on ebay, it's only the people who run ebay who are making any real money.

I used to Sell at our Local SwapMeet and on Ebay. Usually did better at the SwapMeet. I have a lot of Stuff I need to try selling still also. Might think about trying it thru November and first part of December to offer people ideas for Christmas gifts.

No, I don't sell on ebay. I was wondering that myself. It looks like hard work and you might not make something. But I want to try it in the future.

I do still sell on Ebay, but mainly because I love to do handmade crafts and ran out of room to store them. I don't do it so much for the money, because you are right, it is a lot of work for little income. I'm sure there are some people that make money, but I don't see how. Most people are looking for a bargain there and don't want to pay the shipping. By the time you pay for your materials, packaging and shipping, there isn't a lot of profit left.

Yes Ihave sold on Ebay before. It does not seem too hard to me. But finding something is the hardest thing ever. I am selling an ebook now on there and there are no hits. I am selling it for 5.99 so i thought it would fly. But that is the hardest part. Finding something and the making is sell. Some tips I know of are making your listing stand out... always us a gallery pic so that people will see it... also make sure your description is worded right... and lat make sure you explain the payment types. Many people get caught up in the bidding and they do not realize that they have won... for exapmle... only serious bidders please. Good Luck

Used to sell body jewelry on ebay, and gave up, the constant shipping and after paying all the fees and the cost of the stock I was lucky to make a quarter off of each piece of body jewelry. Forget that, it was too much work and hassle for nothing!! Ebay is a ripoff for the fees they charge sellers, especially those who take paypal.

i used to sell on ebay a few years ago and stopped after receiving bids from enough non-paying bidders. it's a good way to make decent money if you're reselling popular, new products. it's also good if you have a drop-shipper so you don't have to worry about that aspect of selling.
as for selling used and/or homemade items, that is much harder on the site from what i've known. clothing and the like have to be "in style" or very trendy in order to go. either that or it has to be name brand.

No, I have never tried to sell anything on Ebay but had thoughts about it. Is it difficult to sell things on Ebay? I was supposed to attend a conference a few weeks ago but never made it because of prior committments. I have tried selling my artwork online in the past but never succeeded.
