Real friendship is like a diamond

It is so good to have friendships that are like diamonds, I hope your diamonds never lose their luster, true friends are much rarer than diamonds simply because human beings keep growing and changing and taking different roads, just remember sometimes friends can go in different directions...

What a great way to describe friendship. I've had many fantastic friendships throughout the years but only one true and strong after over forty years. Even though we've lived many miles apart for most of those years, we always sense when one needs the other. It's a remarkable feeling. Just yesterday I was thinking that I needed to call her just to hear her voice but I knew she was at work at that time so I'd call later. Last evening she called before I got the chance. It amazes me that two people that live in entirely two different worlds, in two entirely different parts of the country with hundreds of miles in between, can maintain that type of connection.

I have a lot of friends but only one real true friend. We are together for 12 years and it seems to me that our friendship grows stronger and stronger each year. We shared joys and sorrows together. I can turn to her every time that I need her help. So she can do the same. I can tell her everything and she always gives me a shoulder to cry on.
