I think I topped myself last night. I was using a Pampered Chef flat slicer to slice tomatoes. I THOUGHT my fingers were far away from the blade... boy was I wrong! I sliced my fingertip right off! OMG is it painful. It bled forever. It still bleeds if I bump it. Needless to say, we only had BL for dinner last night.. We threw away the 'T' Please my dear friends, let me know I am not alone in my stupidity and share your "I hurt myself because I am a dumb@ss" stories with us all.

I guess I've done a lot of stupid things, but just cannot remember a single one now. When I do remember, I'll post it...

I was very young back then and my brother and I were playing choo choo train, then I tripped over and bumped my face on the edge of the bed actually destroying most of my teeth. Good thing I got braces when I was a teen so I think it helped fix my teeth.

OUCH! I can't imagine how painful that must have been. Did you have to get caps?

You got lucky then. My sis in law was running with her hands in her pocket, she fell on her face, knocked out her two front permanent teeth. She had to have braces to pull her eye teeth to the front spots and then capped.

No I didn't get caps thank God and if I remember it right most of my teeth are actually shaking off already so I lost a few ones and got new teeth but of course some were already getting permanent so the braces did all the other work.

The stupidest thing I have ever done is cut my tongue when licking an envelope! It's not the sort of thing you'd expect to happen is it, I mean what could go wrong about licking an ordinary brown envelope, but yep, I did it, and I cursed afterwards, and boy did it sting! It was so painful! It's not as if you can put cream on your tongue is it? I couldn't believe that a small cut could be so painful and how it was done too! So I must be the dumb@ss here LOL!

OUCH Paper cuts on the tongue are absolutely NO fun. Especially since you forget about it and eat the things like oranges and such that really sting it.

Ouch! I have done that before, only I was slicing up some cucumbers to put into a salad I was making. Or like the time I was cutting some beef roast to make some stew with, and stabbing my own hand with the knife, cause I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Sometimes I wonder how it is that I'm still alive with the dumb things I have done, like during the process of opening a cupboard I slam myself in the head with the door. Oi! Or walk into the wall, when I am trying to walk down the hall. Nearly broke my collar bone a couple of times doing that. Plus have a bad habit of missing the next step when walking down the steps on my porch, inevitably falling off the porch. Yes possibly, I could be klutz of the year, if such an award was given lol.

LOL! My problem is I have to much on the brain, at the same time trying to do something else, so am constantly distracted by my own thoughts. Need to learn to concentrate on one thing, and one thing only, especially when around sharp objects, walking down steps, or close to walls...lol

Once I was trying to open a can of oil.....I am dating myself here.......with a screwdriver and it slipped and I now have a scar that is about 1 and 1/2 inches long on the top of my other hand where the screwdriver slipped off. It hurt something terrible and bled quite a bit, but didn't need stitches. Another time I broke a glass washing it and sliced my little finger........that wasn't entirely my fault, but I kinda liked watching the blood spurting out of it when I took the towel off it so they could clean it up to put the stitches in it.

Two things actually! One was climbing very high up a tree to get a football down and then deciding to swing on a branch to impress my friends and having it break! I fell a very long way down and landing on my back. I am amazed that I was able to stand straight up again actually. Second instance was coming across an electric cattle fence once. I stupidly grabbed a piece of wood with a nail in it and touched it to the wire thinking that if the fence was truned on, there would be a spark or something. Never once did I consider that the wood the nail was in would mean that there would be no current conducted! Of course no spark came so I placed both hands on the wire and then BOOM! lol. Flat on my back again!

Back when I was a teenager, my Mom liked to drink out of glass glasses. When I'd do dishes I'd stick my hand in the glass to wash it and when the glass would break I would end up with the outside of my hand by my pinkie finger. Now once is an accident, twice is poor judgement but 5-6 times is just plain stupidity. My Mom finally switched to plastic cups and it didn't happen anymore. Hey dizz! I hope your finger feels better! I have had so many accidents I don't even know which one to tell. I once spilled scalding hot water on my foot when I was boiling potatoes for mashed potatoes and ended up in the ER with a something degree burn, all I know is that it was really bad and the skin came off and it took a long time to heal. The there were a few falls off the chair where I landed on my head in the kitchen. The knife wounds are endless and oven burns are too. I am a walking disaster. I was hanging curtains in my bedroom and went to step up on 1 chair and another was in the way and my knee hit the other chair and I screamed in pain. I thought I dislocated my right knee again, but it turned out to be a sprain which had me walking with a cane for 4 months. There's lots more, but I'll leave you with those disasters for now! Dumb enough for you???

i dont think i did anything like that!! that would be stupid in my eyes, but you reminded me something that was so stupid that my sister did, and as a result i got hurt! it was on the eve of chrismas!! and i was blowing balloons, to hang around the corner of the house! and my sister was helping me out! so i was sitting with my legs stretched out and i was blowing the balloons.. and i was tie'ing the ballon , and the jod that i gave to my sister was to cut the thread with the blade after i have tied up the balloon. so what happened was.. after i tied up the balloon., i stretched the thread across my knee and i told my sis to cut the thread!!.. you know what she did., she cut that thread with such a force , that the blade hit my knee!!! , at one moment i just went mum! i just covered my knee!! instantly with my hands!.. and i took my hands off!! blood was pouring!!!!! my sister was like going on asking sorry sorry sorry!!.. i never answered here!!! the whole day she was sitting by my side and seeing the wound that she made!! and the next day, it was horrible.. i wasn able to wear my frock! every time my frock touched my knees, it hurt really badly!! even today, when i see that wound in my knee.. i tell her, "see what a mark you have given me".. and she laughs out remembering that incident!

haha the most stupidest thing I have ever done was that in my college days i was playing basketball. And in between there was a fight of my friends with some other junior guys. I had the basketball, I kicked the guy twice and then i threw the basketball at him and it hit his arm and came back and hit me on my face. I was soo embarrassed but I kicked the guy enough to stop people noticing my stupidity.. It was really funny. And all my friends were laughing at me after that incident.. and we remember that thing now as well sometimes.

I can excuse the stupid stuff we do as toddlers ans we do not know any better. However, when we get our fingers caught in things they shouldn't be in in the first place.... thats not to smart... and we ALL have done it

I had a very similar incident, but I don't even have the excuse that I was using some unpredictable machinery! I managed to slice about halfway into the side of my thumb, whilst chopping carrots. This was a couple of years ago now, and I still bear the scar, and because I severed nerve endings, I have no sensation at the top of my thumb!

I had started working for a company, and there were two buildings. I was the payroll administrator, and a lot of times I had to go to the other building. The first time I had to go, I went and did what needed to be done. On my way out I kind of got lost, when I found the exit door, I walked right into the glass door. Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, I heard my nose crunch, and saw stars. It was a glass front to the building where the door was, and there were so many sections, I did not have my glasses on and I am far sighted, so I didn't see the inside door, the glass was very clean, I saw the outside door, thinking that the inside door was clear space. Boy that really hurt, I thought I broke my nose.

be lucky you weren't running. In '86, my brother was running out of a convenience store.. he ran right into a plate glass window .. this was BEFORE safety glass. He got 400 stitches in his legs, arms, and face. It was horrible, I will never forget it and I was 8 at the time

Yep we do things that are risky when we are young but that is how we learn sometimes tho our parents are there to help us from their experience to keep us safe experience is still the best teacher. Not really I was just playing around outside my mom was cooking, but that wasn't the last time I got hurt on my bike I also took a turn wrong and busted my knee open bout a hole 1" diameter, but I knew first aid by that time and took care of myself. Everyone is different and have some opportunities that others don't that is what makes everyone their own person what we do and how we react to situations. Thanks for the welcome. All the best

Not intentional but I broke rule one when working with electronics. I was working on a high voltage circuit with the power on. Rule one says one hand should be behind your back to prevent electrical shock. Yes well silly me needed to move the supply. One hand one one side of the case and the other ended connecting with the high voltage output, of course. There was ~800 Volts Direct Current flowing through my burning skin. It left a mark on my skin for ~2-3 months. It is a good think that it was relatively low current or I would not be typing this.

Haha, good question. I remember when I was young I did not believe that electric mosquitoes nets could kill mosquitoes, so I actually placed my finger inside. Shock I got, really hurt! I still can't believe I actually did that. The second one was I was watching my friends throw the ball on the wall and let it bounce back to catch it. I tried it at home and I didn't manage to catch the ball.. So.. It went BONG onto my head. Hurt alot, cried and cried until the pain was gone. This brings back so much pleasurable memories.

I got drunk with my friends one night at the bar and then afterwards we went back to his apartments and as we were walkin up to the building me and a buddy decided to wrestle around. Well we were wrestling and there was a hole that was from one of those lil grills that are like in public parks(you know the lil metal ones that are like stuck in the ground with cement) Anyway while wrestling i went to hipcheck him my foot was half in and half out of the whole and once i got him up his weight ended up landing on my chest and broke my fibula in the back of my ankle. Really gross too, ended up goin home drunk driving a stick shift car with a broken left ankle while hammered and my wife made me wait till morning to go see the doctor because she's a nurse. Ended up green from the knee down. Gross huh. Long story short i got a titanium plate in my ankle with 4 titanium screws, what an expensive night and i'll never forget it. Obviously.
